On Thursday I wrote about the 2014 injunction Russell Brand obtained against a woman who accused him of assault. I've now obtained the final order. It's breathtaking. She had no lawyer. No trial. Yet she was silenced for life - even barred from speaking to the police. 🧵:

What the hell is happening to #Strictly?! The format, the hosting, the skits, the intros - all are horrendous and I'm seriously bored with everything other than the dancing - which is what its meant to be about after all. #StrictlyComeDancing

People aren’t faking their disabilities, they’re faking being well. We know society hates us. We know we will be judged for using assistive devices. Many of us take years to get the courage to lean in to accommodations. Stop judging. Help us build a more inclusive world.
genuinely disgusting to classify a whole group of people as “faking” their disability because you personally don’t think they need a mobility aide. genuinely rot. what on earth do you think they gain from faking a disorder that severely limits you.

I wrote this article nearly two years ago but it’s just as relevant today. I wish every healthcare worker would read it and realize patients deserve protection. They deserve to be safe in the place they go to get care. They deserve masks in healthcare: disabledginger.com/p/a-plea-…

I don’t want to "download the app" to pay for parking. I don’t want to "create an account" to see a menu. I don’t want to "provide feedback" on a 30-second interaction. I just want to exist in the physical world without a digital leash.

A friend mentioned wills the other day, “Mine’s a bit out of date, I did it 15 years ago, but it’s fine.” I stopped him, "Hang on - you were single then, you've got married and had children since then!” In Eng (& Wales) WILLS ARE USUALLY INVALID ON MARRIAGE, therefore I explained "you don't have a will". Plus that if he had it wouldn't have included crucial info like who he'd want to have guardianship or his children. The lesson: if you marry, have children, separate, divorce, or have any other major life change, don’t assume your old will still does the job. Check it. Update it. Your family may depend on it.

This is incredibly worrying news. Measles is a highly contagious and dangerous virus. It can cause severe complications such as deafness, brain damage and death – and young children under five are particularly vulnerable. Measles is also one of the most highly infectious viruses. Spending just 15 minutes in direct contact with someone infected with measles is enough to catch it yourself. This outbreak is likely to be linked to low levels of MMR vaccination in the capital – which is itself a tragedy because these patents are trying to protect their children from harm, fearful that the disinformation spread by antivaxxers may be true. If you are a parent who feels worried about the MMR, please, I urge you, read the excellent, evidence-based NHS information on MMR by searching for "NHS" and "MMR". I promise you, as an experienced doctor who cares more about patient safety than anything, that I would never encourage use of a medicine whose safety did not vastly outstrip its potential risks (which, for MMR, are very rare – and, most notably, large scale trials have shown the vaccine to have no demonstrable link whatsoever to autism). Please also consider reading the author Roald Dahl’s heartbreaking account of the death of his daughter, Olivia, aged 7, from measles, which I have shared in the images below in full. In the agony of his grief, all he wanted to do was save other parents from such suffering by encouraging them to get their children vaccinated: “Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old… I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn’t do anything. “Are you feeling all right?” I asked her. “I feel all sleepy,” she said. In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead.” - Roald Dahl Please share. Thank you 🙏

An algorithm’s watching me, I am not certain why, It sends advertisements for things I do not want to buy, It makes me feel uneasy, that upon me it has preyed, And if I could locate it, I would whack it with a spade.

The next time Trump tells a woman she’s a “terrible reporter” I wish all the other reporters would shout back “you’re a terrible President’ Maybe it’s time they fight fire with fire. Show some solidarity with their fellow journalists. Show him what it feels like.

Please know that this is baseless scaremongering from Trump and RFK. There is no good scientific evidence linking paracetamol (Tylenol) to autism. A 2024 Swedish study of 2.4 million births found no relationship whatsoever between exposure to paracetamol in utero & subsequent autism, ADHD or intellectual disability. Likewise, there is no good evidence linking vaccines (of any kind) to autism. Spreading medical disinformation is a disgusting abuse of political power with dangerous real world consequences.
