Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bi-partisan resolution reaffirming support for religious minorities in Iraq.
The effort was led by @RepSlotkin @RepJames @RepMoolenaar + advocacy from @indefchristians @IrfRoundtable and more.
The threats are not just from ISIS, "but the loss of property, erasure of religious cultural heritage, and exploitation of political representation that has led many to struggle to envision a future in the lands that their communities have called home for hundreds of years.”
The most encouraging work are local efforts addressing these threats and working to build a society that embraces human dignity and the rights and freedoms of all citizens, including religious and ethnic communities.

At its core, religious freedom is about liberty and human dignity. It is an important foundation for flourishing societies.

So exciting to see @SamuelBrownback and @LantosSwettK kick off #IRFSummit2024! The breadth and scope of this issue is immense and the work is vital.
@susancrabtree leading a great panel on what religious freedom is and isn’t and how successful governments have been to embed religious freedom work into policy and practice across the globe. @IRF_Ambassador @Robert_Rehak @SamuelBrownback #IRFSummit2024
Important from @IRF_Ambassador: When we consider preventing genocide, we have to look at the path to genocide and how restrictions on religious freedom and incitement to violence metastasize. Civil society leadership is vital! #IRFSummit2024
“Keep fighting for us! We need you!” — a powerful refrain that highlights the vital nature of religious freedom. #IRFSummit2024
An amazing video from @IRFSummit that highlights how the whole IRF community worked together to help rescue an entire community facing deportation and certain imprisonment and instead granted freedom. #IRFSummit2024

Sobering discussion @USIP on 10 years after the Yazidi genocide in Iraq with @YazdaOrg @Free_Yezidi @CPG_USHMM and others. No easy answers. Justice remains elusive and 2,500 Yazidis remain unaccounted for.
