this is obv a delicate topic but there's no real reason to expect fans to be "pro-player." obviously the vast majority of fans are going to be pro-the team they cheer for. especially if the player wants to leave the city the fans live in in large part bc he thinks it sucks
One thing I really appreciate about the Brewers success is that they bucked trends and found an approach that worked. They hit the least HRs in baseball, and didn't focus on pulling the ball.
While yes the Brewers had never won a World Series the city of Milwaukee did get one with the Braves in 57. So the cities draught while very long was not quite the whole never having won narrative

Funny: Pat Murphy, not a tiny man, was given a middle seat for all 3 flights to NY for his Mets manager interviews
Not as funny: The Mets seemed ready to name Murphy but changed their minds at the last minute and hired Carlos Beltran, who lasted zero games

Rays are going to potentially lose Peralta and Rasmussen just decimating their staff heading into next season.
I mean this with all sincerity...
How is it possible that we have technology that allows to communicate with someone on the other side of the world via something that fits in our pocket, cars that can drive themselves, and computers that can form their own thoughts and talk back to us...
but it took til 2026 for someone to say "hey, we could solve this stale cereal problem by using those bags that people buy to store stuff in"?

Since nobody seems to know what analytics means anymore, here's one of my favorite lessons.
Take two hitters with the same OPS. Hold OBP equal too. The one with the lower batting average is the better hitter.

Fascinating stuff. Lends creedence to what @jeffMLBdraft found in the regular season batted ball data and takes it a step further about Brewers being oppo/center focused at the plate.
I wonder if this works for them due the types of hitters they have. Doubt its cookie cutter
How the Milwaukee Brewers are hitting *differently* than just about every other team in Major League Baseball View article
It's been a fun World Series with a pair of small markets. While it might seem to shift the narrative does it? Both teams could lose their Championship MVP to FA. The Rays likely have to shop their ace. The Brewers will have to consider shopping their closer and cleanup hitter

Locked On #Guardians - State of the farm system
⚾️Reviewing our 2026 Guardians prospect draft - who won?
⚾️What state is the farm system in heading into 2027?
⚾️World Series lessons the Guardians should take note of
Just funny how every team in baseball, and I get why, have been so focused on pulling the ball. Curious to see if their are changes after the two lowest pull rate teams in baseball are in the world series. Brewers go up the middle and opposite field more than any team on MLB
