Watch @grafana leadership in response to @satyanadella pounding the table on AI observability -- if they do, they're building IPO pre-filing narrative.

Replying to @satyanadella
@satyanadella extremely well put. I have been saying this, not as elegantly - we cannot rely on the disclosures of frontier LLMs alone:
1. These harnesses need to be constructed so that third parties can get involved in observability and transparency..
2. As we get there we also can imagine users (enterprises) wanting to adapt the guardrails to their values, principles and business practices. One cannot imagine a global set of guardrails owned by the model creators.
3. No real business will be able to implement the enhanced capabilites of models if they remain black boxes, auditability, verification and compliance are essential premises to ensure that businesses can continue to operate showing duty of care.
4. Information securty architectures are consistent over decades, the AI architectures need to make room for us to be able to interface seamlessly, at speed and consistently - today all attempts by us are jerry rigged and band aids because we are trying to adapt to the speed of the model providers. If the AI industry doesn't support the simultaneous capability of the security industry things will stall.
5. To foster the diffusion of AI at speed and build trust we need to have momentum behind the conversation just initiated by Satya.

Don't be distracted - the market is Things.
DIRECT TO DEVICE IS MISPRICED. THE MONEY IS ON PHONES. THE MARKET IS THINGS.
$ASTS SpaceMobile has more than $1 billion in contracted backlog w/dozens of carriers, and a market cap of ~$24B. That is the phone bet, I'd still take the other side.
Here's why:
@hubble_network satellites hear those devices now. A firmware update on the chip already in the hardware, a fraction of the power, location and telemetry from anywhere with a clear view of the sky.
THE BIG BET:
Hubble reaches a $100 Billion market cap before AST does.
Today, Hubble is worth 1/15th of $ASTS.
Where do you put your chips?
By contrast, billions of Bluetooth devices have never been connected to anything more than a few meters away. Pallets, pumps, containers, tools, gauges and sensors driving the industrial economy.
The radio that could reach them always cost more than the thing it was on.
Phones are already connected. Satellite adds coverage at the tiny edge cases and splits the revenue with the carrier.

Here's why:
Satellite startup Hubble raised $200 million in a new funding round, taking the company’s valuation to $1.6 billion as it works to enable global Bluetooth connectivity through a network of spacecraft. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Congrats to Alex, Ben, and @hubble_network (YC W22) on their $200M Series C at a $1.6B valuation!
Hubble's satellite network lets any Bluetooth device connect directly to orbit with just a software update.
Cellular covers about 15% of Earth's landmass, and tracking anything beyond that has meant satellite hardware costing $25 or more per device. Hubble brings connectivity under 50 cents per device, which changes the math for billions of pallets, shipping containers, water pumps, and farm equipment that were never worth connecting before.

Cellular covers about 15% of Earth's landmass. Everything past that has meant hardware too expensive to justify tracking.
Today, we're opening satellite coverage to Bluetooth devices, plus a $200M Series C, crossing unicorn valuation.
@sana_pashankar at @Bloomberg has more.

We are in the middle of something extraordinary but the world around us has barely changed yet. For example, where are the breakout games, hedge funds or arbitrage exploits from solo entrepreneurs? There is a mysterious gap. What's the hold up?

Next time, save yourself the 30 minutes. Tracking things with Bluetooth is kinda our thing. 🛰️
Lost my phone at the office and spent 30 minutes turning the place over. Find My was disabled by MDM.
Out of ideas, I asked Claude how I could find it. It suggested tracking the Bluetooth signal strength, then wrote me a meter in about a minute.
I walked around watching the number climb. Found it.
Apparently you can just make the tool you need now.

One of the soon consequences of the orbital economy: brokerages for cargo to space.
Full Falcon 9 rocket charter far too expensive and not needed for individual sat operators.
If your company website looks like this and it earns more than $100M/yr, you do not need to worry about AI.
