BREAKING: Sleep and neurology researchers confirm that "morning grogginess" in ADHD is actually severe Sleep Inertia—a state where the prefrontal cortex takes up to 60 minutes longer to restore blood flow and dopamine signaling after waking up than a neurotypical brain.
If waking up your ADHD child (or yourself) at 7:00 AM feels like trying to wake up a hibernating bear who wants to fight everyone in the house, here is the science of why:

Why are we using robots to generate emails, summarize meetings, and make PowerPoints instead of sending them into mines, oil fields, toxic waste sites, and oceans to do the dangerous work humans shouldn’t have to do? How did we get the priorities this backwards?
El-Sayed: I have a sense that you all are here today because of the decisions of somebody who's not here right now. I'm just going to tell you, this is a state of 10 million people who deserve a lot better from their government. I'm a lot more focused on the 9,999,998 that are not the ones you guys are talking about
I'm not in the business of driving clicks for you. I'm in the business of trying to solve problems for the people of my state

When you view children through a behavioural lens, you risk missing the distress beneath the behaviour.
Increasingly seeing Pathological Demand Avoidance being used in school discourse. This article by the excellent @Docstockk nails my issues with it.
1. It has no diagnostic basis. It’s colloquial, not clinical, but it *sounds* clinical.
2. Its unfalsifiable. How do you know if someone doesn’t have it?
3. It can easily lead into endlessly negotiating with children when we should be directing and insisting- and inevitably it leads to a weakening of consequences and responsibility.
If a child says, ‘I won’t’, don’t reach for a label

The term ‘Learned Helplessness’ is from psychological experiments on animal/human behavior conducted 1967 by American psychologists. Criticism of it oversimplified, ethically flawed, Original co-discoverer Steven Maier upended the entire theory using modern neuroscience in 2016.

If this is LibDem thinking then say goodbye to 100000 votes from experienced teachers. What on earth did you base your comments on? Straight out of the Nick Gibb handbook. You need to listen to experienced teachers not someone with 4 years exp. Including 2 years training.
This is a very important point. I have seen quite a few posts about “learned helplessness”.

Italians refuse to stay silent and sit idle in the face of a genocide and the normalisation of war.
The global awakening has started and so the peaceful uprising against the globalisation of Apartheid.
Together we are ONE, standing for peace, human rights & love for one another.
🇮🇹 Tens of thousands of workers, students, truckers and farmers marched in more than 40 Italian cities on Friday in a general strike against soaring living costs, rearmament and European support for wars in the Middle East, including the genocide in Gaza, according to Italian news agency Adnkronos.
Police counted 30,000 in Milan, where marchers shut down the eastern ring road for three hours, while organizers claimed over 100,000, according to Italian broadcaster TGCom24. A speaker in Turin put the crowd there at more than 50,000. The grassroots union USB, which called the strike, claimed 2 million nationwide showed up to challenge Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's "war economy."
Protesters blocked the port in Genoa with burning tires, TGCom24 reported, and marched into Naples port, demanding that ports not be used to move "weapons, ammunition, military equipment and troops." In Rome, police charged about 300 students who threw stones and Molotov cocktails. At least 10 officers were injured in Mestre and Vicenza, according to Adnkronos.
Transport Minister Matteo Salvini had ordered rail, air, sea and transit workers to stay on the job, but the order was dismissed by USB as "illegitimate."

Stop talking about the cost of NHS doctors, and start talking about their value.
Tell you don’t know much about #ADHD. This phrase “learned helplessness” is utter nonsense. #ADHD has enough life impairments for it to be considered a disorder. It is no difference to being deaf, blind or have mobility disabilities.
She’s not wrong. A good way to make sure hardships are never overcome is to see them as immutable. Learned helplessness is real. Yes, there are things about a lot of us that make living a “normal” life impossible. But that says a lot more about our current society than it does about levels of disability, and that will never change as long as we see ourselves as the problem.

Abdul El-Sayed, Do not believe people who say I'm for sharia law, I'm for shawarma law" - 😋👏
Then he makes a sensible call for multiculturalism,
"I want an America where everybody, no matter who the are, feels safe. Whether you're Jewish-American, Christian-American, or Muslim-American: that we all feel safe"
"You can point and try to divide us, but Michiganers are a lot bigger than that"
My view:
I'm fully behind shawarma law! 😋👏 If it means delicious food, generous portions and bringing people together around a table, sign me up!
But beyond the humour, Abdul El-Sayed makes a point that deserves to be heard.
The idea that Jewish, Christian and Muslim Americans should all feel equally safe, equally welcome and equally valued shouldn't be controversial. It should be the absolute minimum any decent society aspires to.
Multiculturalism isn't about everyone having to believe the same things, follow the same traditions or abandon their identities.
It's about recognising that people from different backgrounds, faiths and cultures can live alongside one another, contribute to their communities and share a common sense of belonging.
Nobody should have to hide their religion, apologise for their heritage or live in fear because of who they are.
And nobody's safety should come at the expense of somebody else's.
There's something wonderfully positive about responding to attempts to create suspicion and division with humour, warmth and an invitation to recognise our shared humanity.
We have far more in common than the things that separate us. Different religions, different cultures, different histories, but the same fundamental hopes: to live peacefully, raise our families, feel secure and be treated with dignity.
That's a message worth celebrating.
And if a plate of shawarma helps bring everyone together, all the better! 🤓
