All 40 passengers and crew as well as the 4 hijackers were killed. • The Takeover: Four terrorists took control of the cockpit after the other three planes had already hit the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. • Communication: Passengers and crew made phone calls to family and ground services, learning about the other attacks and realizing the plane was part of a suicide mission. • The Counterattack: Passengers voted on a plan, banded together, and stormed the cockpit at 9:57 a.m. to fight the hijackers. • The Crash: The struggle caused the plane to crash into a Somerset County field at 10:03 a.m. at 563 mph • Fragmentation: Because of the extreme force of the impact, no intact bodies were recovered, and only a small fraction of the physical remains was initially gathered visually
