Yesterday, I exercised my right (as a freeman of The City of London) to drive a herd of sheep across the River Thames.
It was in aid of @RedbridgeLive mayor @jonesbert's charitable campaign to raise funds for @ParkinsonsUK @HavenHouseCH and Mind.

This week I joined Redbridge’s London Climate Action Week summit to discuss the urgent local action needed to tackle the climate crisis.
This week’s record-breaking temperatures are another stark reminder that climate change isn’t a future threat, it’s happening now.

Congratulations to Mayor Cllr Bert Jones on becoming the first citizen of the borough & Cllr Syeda Chowdhury as the Deputy Mayor for the Municipal year 2026 - 2027.
Our local election results were remarkable given the political landscape and I’m proud of the team I led, their effort, and their commitment to our neighbours. We offered unity, ambition and leadership against division and spoke to 1000s across the whole of Redbridge. 1/2

On Eid, one of the most important days in the Muslim calendar, access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem has been restricted by Israeli authorities, with many Palestinians prevented from entering and forced to pray outside.
Reports also indicate restrictions affecting Christian worshippers, including access to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City.
Emerging reports this morning say Israeli forces confronted worshippers outside the Old City, with tear gas reportedly used against those gathered for prayer. These developments raise concerns that heightened security measures are further restricting freedom of worship and movement for Palestinians.
I raised the situation at Al-Aqsa in Parliament yesterday, highlighting ongoing concerns about restrictions even following the ceasefire.
The Israeli government should uphold international law, ensure freedom of worship, and engage in meaningful diplomacy to support a just and lasting peace.

Neither the Tories or Independents proposed an alternative. Here’s what’s included. 👇 (1/

Deeply worrying news. I know how distressing this must be for worshippers, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

I am concerned to hear of the incident at Manchester Central Mosque last night. I know this will be worrying for Muslim communities, especially during Ramadan, a time of peace and reflection.
My thanks go to the volunteers and emergency services for their quick response.
We have provided up to £40 million funding for additional security at mosques, Muslim schools and community centres, and will continue to act to ensure communities are able to live without fear.
