Day Job: I help people ship the stuff that matters, with or without AI.

Phew, what a week for those of us running web apps...

My new favourite way to understand what I'm building with Opus is to get it to give me a briefing, using visuals, animation, voice. Having a bit of fun with the presentation style here. Still a work in progress but I'm finding this to be pretty useful so far.

Why look at a boring list of open PRs when you can have this instead 🤪 (yes, I only have one open right now)

Listen to every single song from GTA VI (including the trailers, the radio stations, and the album) Every track plays back to back, immerse yourself in the music of GTA VI. leonidadrop.com/

Damn, working on fun side projects with Opus 5.5 is just too distracting...

The @excalidraw mcp is sick. Have it live draw explanations (with pencil sounds and all) then pop open to the app and make your own changes. Learning with ai is so fun. (Also, don't stop learning, your brain is too valuable)

If you are working on *.cs *.razor *.cshtml files with AI, you REALLY should be using Roslynk! Saves lots of tokens, it's faster, and compiler diagnostics are available much faster than `dotnet build`. github.com/mrpmorris/roslynk

Hey Claude, how about we cut some of that test code you've been throwing into the project for the last few weeks? jonhilton.net/testing-surger… Thank you @kentcdodds for the idea!

great post from @exedev team - the same thing that has always been true of software engineering is still true: Do fewer things in parallel, do them very well, optimize for getting incremental value out to users, FOCUS It's been 30 years since the XP and Lean folks said "limit work in progress (50+ if you count the eli goldratt thing) - its still true blog.exe.dev/etoomanythings

Today we introduce JetBrains Air - the product system for software development orgs in the age of agents. Built for developers, team leads & engineering directors. Open and flexible: steer and control almost any LLM & harness. Read more: jb.gg/air-announce

As usage patterns around IDEs change (with people turning to agentic development tools) I kinda hope @jetbrains Air works out. I think there's room for a stable, reliable, orchestrator for agents that's enterprise friendly and is designed to work well for devs working across multiple projects/environments/languages.

Got to say it's been refreshing to spend a tiny bit of time working on a fun side project for no particular reason. So easy to be perma-busy these days closing down never-ending PRs for all those 'serious projects' you have to work on. But there's a lot to be said for small, fun, experiments.

'Software Factories' feels limited, and somewhat reductive. My big hope is that we actually get better at defining and focusing on outcomes, and how to measure impact. Outcome Generators? Game Changers perhaps! 😅

I've definitely felt that loss of identity people talk about when it comes to using AI to build software. But I don't think it's a binary thing. It's not really have a sense of identity or don't have a sense of identity. For me its more of a sliding scale, and seems directly proportional to how much I stay involved in the thinking/planning/architecting/reviewing stages vs letting AI loose to do stuff by itself.

With two months to go, seems like the perfect time to listen to the tracks from the GTA VI album (again!) #gtavi

Think I'm just going to be listening to every GTA VI song (from the trailers, and now the 6 from the album) on repeat until November 19th! Just added a continuous radio player to the site.

There was a time when pointless, fun side projects rarely got built (took too long, there's always more important things to do). Now, with AI, that friction is reduced to near zero. Doesn't necessarily mean you should build all your ideas but... here's a fun little tracker of all the music artists linked (in some cases, tenuously!) to GTA VI. leonidadrop.com/ #gtavı
