A little poem I've written about PEM (Post Exertional Malaise): I did some stuff the other day, but didn't do a lot. Now all I do is lay around and feel like total grot. #mecfs #pwme #MEawarenessHour #MillionsMissing #canyouseeMEnow

I don't do Halloween, but I do do Christmas (as you might have noticed...). So here's a Christmas song but with a Halloween themed video! youtube.com/watch?v=FjpTk9ev…

A bunch of puppets help a grumpy businessman deal with the aftermath of the death of his business partner.
Poorly explain your favorite movie to me without telling me the title. I want to see if I can guess the film. I need a mid-week chuckle.

Today is BED for Severe M.E. Day! 🎉 For one day, pyjamas become a symbol of solidarity with people whose lives are spent largely in bed due to severe M.E. Put on your PJs, take a photo, and help us make severe M.E. impossible to ignore. #BedForSevereME #SevereME

This budget does very little to the overall level of tax, and the overall level of tax is going up significantly. Here's the tax increases over the next few years, in 2026 £. You can just about see today's changes in green.

It's worth remembering that stealth taxes will still be at the heart of this Budget They represent the biggest tax rise in history Income tax thresholds have been frozen now since 2021 and are due to remain frozen until April 2031 The cumulative freezes of freezing thresholds and allowances is expected to raise ***£67billion*** by 2030/31 The higher rate - which was once the preserve of the rich - is now the norm for millions of people By 2030/31 5.2million people will have been brought into paying income tax, there will be 4.8million more higher rate taxpayers and 600,000 more additional rate taxpayers A ***quarter*** of taxpayers will be higher rate or additional rate taxpayers We've reached the stage where this huge tax raid is almost priced in every year, but it is far more significant than any other tax-raising measure on the scorecard Paul Johnson, a former head of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, said: "We are talking many, many billions of pounds of tax rises over the decade. People who would 20 years ago have never imagined they would be higher-rate taxpayers are now higher-rate taxpayers."

What if getting dressed, sitting up, or having a conversation could leave you seriously ill for days or weeks? That's the reality for many people living with #SevereME. This Thursday, wear your PJs, start a conversation, and help raise awareness and funds. #BedForSevereME

I think this story is important because it tells us about the future of cybersecurity (and of course what we can do better at Anthropic). But some of the Washington Post story / reaction on X is wrong. A few corrections: - it didn’t take 12 hours. we saw several days of attempts. After these attempts, they exploited two 3rd party vulnerabilities, one they reported and the other we identified independently (and cut off access) - nothing came close to our most sensitive systems, like model weights or Claude conversations - this wasn't an ordinary bug bounty finding – this involved exploiting 3rd parties and accessing data. While this is unusual and out of scope of our safe harbor policy, we’re grateful these issues were found From my researcher POV, the event is important because I'm concerned this is what the future will look like. Adversaries will use whatever models/tools they can. They’ll target everything with agents 24/7. They’ll hit your dependencies. I think models ~0.5-1 generations behind the current frontier can do this. And these are the dumbest models your adversaries will ever use! So, what to do? You probably want to red team yourself all the time. Current models are *very* creative. I also think we should redesign software / systems so that you’re fundamentally less exposed. (We put out some research recently on formally verifying software and reducing attack surfaces; my mental model is basically “secure code is cheap to write now, so why not rewrite everything”)
EXCLUSIVE: In less than 12 hours, a group of ex-DOGE cyber researchers were able to penetrate Anthropic’s systems using AI agents — including Slack channels where the most sensitive models are discussed. This is just weeks after Anthropic whistleblower Joseph Coxon charged the company w/launching “a hubristic gamble” from a “private company’s Slack.” Read our story here (gift link): wapo.st/4smNlsC

Very serious concerns over reported attack on Christians in which, as reported by @BBCBreaking, “more than 60 people have been killed in a series of attacks on Christians in Ethiopia's Oromia region, according to the country's Orthodox Church.” In a statement posted on Facebook, our sister Ethiopian Orthodox Church said that “it had repeatedly raised concerns about insecurity with authorities at different levels of government, but that ‘so far there has been no solution’". We pray propose for the departed, comfort for the bereaved, healing for the injured and traumatised, peace upon the region and the nation, and wisdom for those who lead. @Refcemi
