The Oakland A’s were killed by greed. Do not allow the people responsible for this to spin it any other way. John Fisher did not have to move this team. Major League Baseball and its owners did not need to be complicit in it. This was a choice. A wrong one. History will sneer.

I can no longer contain my thoughts on the A's temporary move to Sacramento, and want to get a couple of things out there. So with my apologies, a thread... 1/

If he got cold feet over the financials (just a guess), sell the team to one of the many in line who’d want to keep the team in the Bay Area— someone who can handle owning a functional baseball team in a major market.
That’s on MLB for enabling incompetence

John Fisher has owned the A’s for nearly 20 yrs. He:
▪️Hasn’t signed FAs
▪️Hasn’t re-signed A’s players
▪️Has watched the Coliseum rot
▪️Has refused to close a mere $80M diff. for a new park
▪️Has refused to go on camera to explain his decision
Stop saying it’s Oakland’s fault

A's fans: We need you to show up in big numbers on Tues Nov 7!
Mayor Thao will hold a press conference at City Hall at 2:30pm making clear to MLB the A's belong in Oakland.
City Council will then meet at 4pm to vote on a resolution affirming the mayor’s message.
Be there!

Just hit the City Of Oakland calendar. A resolution showing a unified front between the Mayor, City Council, and Port of Oakland towards keeping the A’s.
This passing with unanimous consent would at the very least send a message prior to a relocation vote. #Athletics fans should keep an eye on 11/7.

BIG A's NEWS: The @PortofOakland and City officials will join forces on Tuesday. @Kaplan4Oakland has moved forward a resolution regarding the joint effort to provide a reduced scale home for the team at Howard Terminal. There will be a press conference and we're urging fans to show up in STAY t-shirts. Details forthcoming.

I'm not sure that "trading accusations" is the right way to frame Thao describing what happened, while supplying receipts, and Manfred obviously lying about it in response.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and Oakland mayor Sheng Thao are trading accusations and recriminations over the A’s move to Las Vegas and the city’s Howard Terminal ballpark proposal.
But to what end? trib.al/OO4llm4

I wrote about the A's for the @ringer. I tried to get it all, from the spitefulness of what's been perpetrated against A's fans (and Oakland), to the history-making way those fans fought back. Sorry it's so long—blame John Fisher. #SellTheTeam #Athletics

David says literally exactly what I’ve been calling on @MayorShengThao to do. Stop waiting around for someone to call you. PICK. UP. THE. DAMN. PHONE. MAYOR. Call Rob Manfred, and call John fisher. Break the ice. Cmon!!!!
A lot of people requested a collab with @DavidPSamson. Here it is! We picked up the phone. Now he wants MLB and the Oakland Mayor's Office to do the same. #Athletics youtu.be/i4WB6DRzvWY

ALWAYS REMEMBER: A’s were not serious about staying in Oakland until 2018. By 2021, they pivoted towards Las Vegas. This “Oakland had decades” talk is a bunch of BS. The A’s committed to Howard Terminal in 2018, moved very slowly, then started the “parallel paths” BS soon after.

The moment you’ve all been waiting for. The “SELL” tee is now being sold by @Oaklandish and trust us, they do a better job in their website and especially SHIPPING. So get yours and support this bigger than baseball movement. #Sell #FisherOut

We're caling on @MayorShengThao to put an end to the corrupt gaslighting tactics of #Athletics owner #JohnFisher, #RobManfred, & @MLB.
We're also calling on the NATIONAL news, to speak up about the corruption happening in Oakland, & the theft of a community's ballclub.

Rob Manfred and his entire MLB apparatus is a joke. They are spreading lies about the A's situation. Now they are doctoring reality.
Jose Solis retweeted
MLB taking a Totalitarian state approach to removing criticism of owners is very 'on-brand' of them.
Remember fans: when your owner threatens to take your team away and tears down the roster whilst raising ticket prices, you're supposed to just sit quietly and say thank you ...

This is one of the craziest things I've ever seen. If it's not a joke, MLB has gone completely to the dark side.
