This is our aquifer. The Halawa Shaft, up until Dec. 2021, provided 20% of Honolulu’s water. The Board of Water Supply announced that due to the Navy contaminating our water with fuel from their leaking Red Hill tanks, we may never be able to draw from this shaft again. Ever.

This is a tangent but imagine you're just a random acting student (not even from the big 3 schools) who doesn't fit conventional paths and you basically became the face of daughter of the party bc CPC is woke like that
Many people in the US have a hard time believing the tears shed by these performers are genuine, and yes a lot of that is due to racism - but I think it has much more to do with the fact that deep down even the most patriotic Americans know their country was born from genocide and slavery. Communist China was born from the blood, bravery, love and sacrifice of millions, and the beneficiaries of revolutionary victory appreciate what was given for it in ways we in the imperial core could only hope to worthy of one day understanding. The only great battles for liberation the west has ever won have been in fiction and film; for China, it is their living history.

The only acceptable course of action for Palestinians is to die like good victims.
I’m grieving the deaths of the two Israeli soldiers killed in Hebron today, and praying for the full & speedy recovery of those who were injured.
I’ve spoken out loudly this week against Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, which imposes violence on a daily basis, and I will continue to do so. But violence is not the path to ending it — or to achieving safety, freedom, and peace for both Palestinians and Israelis.
And neither is collective punishment or ethnic cleansing of an entire neighborhood, or punishing millions of people for the criminal act of two, which Netanyahu has promised to enact in response.
I’ve seen a lot this week and I’ll have more to say about in the coming days (I’m on my way home shortly). There is a path to ending this excruciating cycle of violence. It starts by insisting that every life is sacred, that everyone is created in God’s image.
For now: Shabbat Shalom, to everyone who believes in the hard work of making peace & justice a reality, for everyone.

BREAKING: The U.S. is now preparing for a massive bombing campaign against Iran as the USS George Washington is being heavily rearmed in the Arabian Sea, with sailors loading large quantities of munitions, including standoff land-attack missiles and bunker-buster bombs, per The Wall Street Journal citing U.S. officials.
In a rare visit aboard the carrier, WSJ reporter Shelby Holliday witnessed massive stacks of munitions boxes as American forces loaded large numbers of weapons and prepared aircraft for possible renewed military action, with U.S. officials confirming the military is positioning itself for a fresh wave of attacks.
The WSJ says they are the exact weapons needed for a campaign against Iran's underground nuclear sites and hardened military infrastructure.

Hanging out with .@guychristensen_ at my place in Chongqing. 3.6 million followers. Eight years building one of the most prominent pro-Palestinian platforms on the planet. Gone overnight.
Following the forced sale of TikTok’s US operations, the new owners wasted no time retroactively digging through his archives, culling content posted years before the acquisition. Yesterday, they permanently banned the channel.
The justification is pure farce. One of the "strikes" was a video on Italian port workers striking over weapons shipments to Israel, a post .@tiktok_us had already suspended, appealed, reviewed, and fully cleared. Another was a completely benign video from 2023, suddenly flagged last week. A channel built over nearly a decade wiped out by content their own system previously greenlit.
This is the "free speech" guaranteed by American ownership. Put Larry Ellison, a major private funder of the IDF, in control of moderation, and this is what happens.

Reminder: There are only about 900 supertankers in the world, each one able to carry up to 2 million barrels of crude.
✦ Every one Iran takes out of service tightens a fleet that's already stretched by the war.
✦ Ships are now so scarce that a 5-year-old supertanker sells for about $210 million, far more than the roughly $130 million a new one costs, because new ones take three years to build.

We can tell that "anti-semitism" isn't actually a form of racism simply by the fact that government goes on about it all the time and immediately gives its supposed victims everything they want.

BREAKING: Central banks around the world are now quietly stockpiling 4 times as much gold as usual and moving it out of the US, per Goldman Sachs, amid senior officials warning that the gold is "no longer safe" in Trump’s hands.
Purchases hit 79 tonnes in August against a pre-2022 average of 17, while holdings at the New York Fed fell 40 tonnes and holdings at the Bank of England rose 46.
China was the largest buyer at 25 tonnes, aimed at rapidly diversifying away from the US dollar and G7 currencies.
On the storage side, Netherlands moved 86 tonnes out of New York and Ottawa, citing "increasing geopolitical unrest." France sold 129 tonnes in New York and bought gold in Europe instead.

The Long March is one of the greatest epics in the annals of human history.
In 1934, 86,000 Chinese Red Army soldiers began an arduous 12,500 kilometre journey to escape encirclement. They crossed 40 mountains, 100 rivers and a marshland known as the “death zone”. They fought more than 600 battles on their journey. Only about 7,000 survived the trek to Yan’an, where they established a revolutionary base.
Along the way, the marching soldiers formed deep connections with local peasants. In many ways, that experience formed the bedrock of China's revolutionary process, which was led by the peasantry and continues to be rooted in the countryside to this day.

Within the next 48 hours, if flour is not allowed into Gaza, all bakeries in the city will stop producing bread.
We are facing an enormous catastrophe. Famine is knocking on our doors once again, and this time, it could be worse than anything we have experienced before.
Please, do not remain silent! Talk about Gaza, make our voices heard around the world, and do everything you can before thousands of people lose access to something as basic as a loaf of bread.

Zelensky’s position has not changed; freezing the front lines has been his long-standing demand. However, Putin’s requirement is that Ukraine must cede the entire Donbas, so the core of the confrontation between the two sides remains the same. In addition, Trump’s inclination to pressure Ukraine into making concessions remains unchanged, while Europe’s firm support for Ukraine also continues. The situation in Ukraine is still maintaining the previous balance. Winter is approaching soon, battlefield activity will decline, and the situation is likely to remain as it is until next spring.
