My piece on President Ziaur Rahman — the man who was my uncle — is now live in Counterpoint. A hospital room in Kolkata. May 30th, 1981. A night I have never forgotten.
Thank you Zafar Sobhan for giving this story a home.

🇺🇸 A masterclass in democracy: power changed hands peacefully, record money couldn't buy the outcome, and incumbents conceded with grace. A lesson for Bangladesh and the world: let the people decide, then accept it. #Democracy #USMidterms2026
I am sure every Democrat who voted for her feels betrayed
.@RepHaleyStevens This is so SICK.
If Democrats lose the Senate because of your decision, you could be the reason Trump is never held accountable for his corruption.
Democratic voters in Michigan trusted you to fight for them. Instead, you're campaigning with the Republican this corrupt president wants in the Senate.
Michiganders deserve better. You stabbed them in the back. Shame on you.

Dr. El-Sayed is a fighter for our American Constitution, he’s a fighter for our American Democracy, and he’s a fighter against the corrupt, lawless, and anti-American leadership currently in the White House. That’s why I’m in his corner 100%.

aside from a handful of Arab countries (most of them dictatorships and best friends of the US) no elected Muslim majority country has ushered in sharia law. Facts matter, but I don’t think you care much about facts

even the name “Saudi Arabia” is a tragedy. Why should a country name mean that it is the personal property of a single family?

Why should religious faith create ties to foreign nations above our own? Regardless of religion—be it Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, or another—an American's primary allegiance should always be to the United States.

🇮🇱🇵🇸 An Israeli reservist has given German news magazine Der Spiegel a DEEPLY DISTURBING account of what his unit allegedly did in GAZA
Soldiers would hide in areas where civilians hadn't been evacuated, then shoot Palestinians who unknowingly approached. When others came to help the wounded, they were shot too.
Five, six, seven people dead.
The military report? "Seven terrorists eliminated."
He says his brigade killed around 160 to 170 people in the Netzarim corridor, despite encountering no Hamas attacks during that period.
And according to him, virtually all were recorded as terrorists without evidence that they were armed.
He's one of ten soldiers who spoke to Der Spiegel.
These allegations demand a serious, independent investigation!

Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said that “my self perception is I am 7,000-year-old civilizational power" and he further claimed that very few countries in the world qualify under that “self-perception”.
Nobody reminded Jaishankar that his father is a Tamil Brahman who was born in Madras ( now Chennai). Even if we believe his ancestors never migrated and evolved from monkey to human on the same piece of land, then 7000 years ago people in that belt lived a nomadic or semi-nomadic life. They did not yet have large cities, permanent brick architecture, or written languages.
Indus Valley civilisation has nothing to do with most of the India , it is mostly in Pakistan with bits spreading out in Afghanistan and India along the borders with Pakistan.
Jaishankar needs to reset his “self perception” so rest of his existence make sense of him in 5 dimensional world.
If his idea of “self perception” is that much fake and delusional then one can imagine the rest.
Before Mohenjo-daro and Harappa, there was Mehrgarh.
9,000 years ago, farmers in Balochistan drilled teeth, traded lapis lazuli and cast copper, laying the foundations of the Indus Valley Civilisation.

Don’t cry Elon! Why don’t you let the US government bring in Chinese EV players into US? Why are you unable to compete with Chinese players?
Set a noble example! Open the US EV market, why deny millions of American consumers the choice, why curb competition?
Are you the real boss of USA?

Spend a week in Shenzhen or Wuhan and this hype sounds completely disconnected from reality. Chinese OEMs are rolling out 800V architectures, LiDAR suites, and urban NOA at half the price, while Tesla’s domestic market share in China keeps eroding. The blind spots here are wild.
so there can’t be any middle ground ?
