Ronan Farrow reported in 2023 that the Pentagon signed a SpaceX contract to keep Musk from being able to cut off Ukraine’s battlefield connectivity at will. Colin Kahl described it as a way to lock in service so Musk couldn’t just flip the switch.
WSJ now reports U.S. officials say Musk ordered the Oct. 14 Starshield slowdown anyway, after speaking with Trump.
If that reporting holds, the guardrail didn’t hold.
1/3 Musk ordered last week's slowdown of Starshield, which Ukraine fights on, after talking with Trump, per @WSJ. In '23 the Pentagon signed a contract with SpaceX to “prevent Musk from turning off the switch," per fmr Under Sec of Defense Colin Kahl.

Ukraine was once again unable to intercept a single incoming Russian missile overnight. Ukrainian officials blame another delayed shipment of Patriot interceptors.

Can any of the anti-fraud Republicans tell us:
-Who owns the offshore account in Qatar that holds $400M in seized Venezuelan oil money?
-What happened with the $1B sent to Trump's "Board of Peace"?
-Who owns the Qatari gifted Air Force One?
-Why more than 50 people who received pardons did so after major donations to Trump or major partnerships with his family's businesses?
-How much public money has been spent at Trump golf courses?
-Who front ran market moving announcements on the war to the tune of more than $20B?
-Why public contracts are going to businesses of Trump allies and cost more than 10x the normal rates?
If not, maybe it's time to shut the hell up about corruption.

GOP Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick says if Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of Starlink in Ukraine, "that is likely a violation of the law."
"We've gotta investigate...We've got to call the witnesses, got to bring them in, put them under oath, and get to the bottom of it. Because this is this is a very, very serious matter. It cannot be glossed over."

- Russia has a massive logistics problem in Donbas, as Ukrainian drones are destroying its vehicles.
- The Kremlin informs the White House about this problem.
- Musk, Trump, and Hegseth throttle Starlink in Ukraine, hampering Ukrainian drone strikes.
- Trump and his pals are promised lucrative business deals with Russia.
- Thousands of Ukrainians die, while Russia threatens to seize even more territory.
I've never witnessed such a betrayal in my life.
russia has run into serious problems with its offensive in Donbas, where its forces have become bogged down.
One of the main reasons was that russian logistics had been crippled by Ukrainian drone strikes. This campaign depended heavily on Starlink terminals operating on high-speed Ukrainian drones.
russian military command identified this as a critical problem and approached the American side, asking it to restrict the speeds at which Starlink terminals could operate.
The argument was simple: there would be little public backlash because the US could still claim that Starlink was operational and that the service was still being provided.
The Trump administration agreed to the restrictions, effectively solving a critical battlefield problem for Russia.
As a result, russian logistics in Donbas are now safer, and Ukraine has lost an important advantage on the battlefield.

If Musk can slow down Starlink to help Russia against Ukraine- and he did… Zuckerberg can turn off the “No Kings” Instagram account on a day millions are gathering to protest Trump - and he did… Then surely they can use their skills to interfere with an election. And…

Ukraine was winning the war, so Trump kneecapped Ukraine to help Russia.
I wish it weren’t that simple, but it is. Our president is in bed with our enemies.

“The USA haven’t spent a single cent on Ukraine since January 2025, so more than 1.5 years. We in Europe are doing it.”
MAGA are still moaning and whinging about Ukraine, while their leader enriches himself and drives America into the dirt.
Trump first. 🤦♂️

Trump's tactic now is to help Putin murder as many Ukrainian civilians as possible, up to his fake peace agreement in Norway, forcing Zelensky to sign, with Witkoff then delivering it to Moscow, where Putin will force even more concessions out of Trump enabling even more killing in Ukraine.
Russia will violate it immediately after election then blame Ukraine. Trump will agree.
The White House has blocked the transfer of Patriot missiles to Ukraine, US officials have said.
The transfer of interceptor missiles from countries friendly to Ukraine requires the approval of Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary ⤵️

Rubio says one thing. Hegseth says another. Trump doesn’t know what he’s talking about. This is a disaster. We have abandoned a democratic ally to curry favor with an autocrat as more and more Ukrainians die due to the actions of this administration.

"Some U.S. officials say that Musk acted unilaterally and that Trump didn’t specifically order any retribution against Ukraine. But a person familiar with the situation said Musk talked to multiple senior administration officials, including with Trump, before imposing the new speed cap, which Ukrainian officials said had allowed Russian missiles to evade their defenses."
Once again, for emphasis: this is Elon Musk unilaterally violating a contract between his company and a paying customer in a mission-critical situation, where lives were at risk and were almost certainly lost as a direct result of his actions, for purely personal reasons that had nothing to do with SpaceX's commercial interests.
It's as serious a breach of trust as can possibly be imagined. Who could possibly trust a contract with a Musk-controlled company now?
Full Congressional investigation is in order. ASAP. Ukrainians died and US diplomatic personnel plus US citizens were at grave risk. wsj.com/world/ukraine-starli…

If this is accurate, Elon lied about not having control over Starshield, and he lied about the administration making the decision.
More importantly, why is a private citizen even *able* to make decisions that could hinder US military operations?
Incredible scoop by my @WSJ colleagues: Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration. wsj.com/world/ukraine-starli…
