Some high school kids were talking and said “No way Gen X wrote 10-page papers without AI.”
Oh, honey.
We wrote them without reading the book…the night before they were due…by hand and in cursive.
We are not the same.

Prices in the UK are just completely made up at this point.
How the fk is it over £2 some please for a bottle of water?
How are trains charging £150 for a return ticket to London?
How is a taxi charging £20 for a 15 minute drive?
How is a weekend away in the UK costing more than leaving the country?
Why does my car insurance keep going up every year on the same car?
How have £600 a month rent properties gone over £1k a month in just a few years?
Honestly we're just getting robbed at this point.

We don’t prevent suicide by doing “safety assessments.” We prevent suicide by creating ongoing, meaningful connections where patients feel seen, heard, and understood in a relationship where they matter.

When the Severe Alert system was established in 2024 it was made clear that:
“There will be a very high threshold for its use based on strict criteria centred on an immediate risk to life.”
Tonight’s use at a national level clearly doesn’t hit that threshold and opens the door to future misuse of the system.
Labour needs to publish who signed off the decision to use the alert and the criteria that they were using.

For therapists concerned about "AI Therapy" taking your place:
If the bulk of what you provide to your clients is information: (e.g. advice, tools, exercises, book rec's) and the like, then AI already does that better & cheaper than any human.
However, if the essence of what you provide is your humanity...your concern, attention, empathy, understanding- your willingness to "suffer with" (i.e. compassion); then what you provide will continue to be unique and valuable; its core value derives specifically from it being from another human.

Women get addressed by Miss, Mrs., or Ms. because society deems it important to know if she is single, married, or widowed.
Men are only addressed by Mr. because their relationship to women does not affect their social status.

Thanks for your critique, Janet. We actually tried a couple of episodes where House (Hugh Laurie) (please put the brackets in the right place) gets it right first time, but they were only 6 minutes long. NBC weren’t happy. Then we tried some where House never gets it right and the patient dies. The audience wasn’t happy.
One could apply your trenchant analysis to other art forms: JS Bach wrote 30 Goldberg variations on the same chord structure; Frida Kahlo painted 50 portraits of herself; Henry Moore, what??
The point is, or was, variations on a theme; if all you see is hospital, medical blah blah, then it wasn’t meant for you.
Nonetheless, I look forward to your first novel!

In the world of psychotherapy the term "Research shows....." Frequently means cherry picking the one paper that supports our view and ignoring of dozens and dozens of papers that say the opposite.
'Evidence based ' and 'Gold standard's are classic examples of this.
