There was a time when #Peshawar had good book stores. The shift from those to eateries and boutiques is a sign of the shift from food for the mind to food and cover for the body. The systematic ruralisation of Peshawar and #Pakhtunkhwa does not seem to slow down.

Isn’t it a dismal failure that the 25 years long war on terror has doubled terrorism? & Pashtuns are paying the cost of state’s failure with their blood. Calling Taliban Khawarij now can’t undo the history of full support to them for 3 decades. Any accountability for d failure?

Fate is like a small sandstorm that keeps changing directions. You change direction but the sandstorm chases you. You turn again, but the storm adjusts. Over and over you play this out, like some ominous dance with death just before dawn. Why? Because this storm isn't something that blew in from far away, something that has nothing to do with you. This storm is you. Something inside of you. So all you can do is give in to it, step right inside the storm, closing your eyes and plugging up your ears so the sand doesn't get in, and walk through it, step by step. -Haruki Murakami

After over 15 years overseas, this is the first time we're hearing positive news about Pakistan's diplomatic efforts, mediating between US and Iran. Well done Pakistan! Proud moment!

Decapitation strikes on the 🇦🇫Taliban leadership are well within Pakistan’s capabilities but I suspect they won’t come now or in near-future. A bruised but nationally buoyed IEA suits Pakistan to keep Afghan nationalists out & since it never cultivated ties with the alternatives

1. Absolutely agree — E-challan system is a smart step and essential . However, tech enforcement is only as good as its governance. Speaking from experience — I worked for a traffic fine collection agency as a 3rd-party with Gruponova, and we saw a serious issue:
The e-challan system needs to be extended to the entire country to improve enforcement and put some fear of law in the hearts of drivers.

All roads lead to #Kabul. One of my favourite cities, which I visited in the late 1970s when it was a thriving and peaceful city. My current read is all about Kabul Jan. A lovely book by Lyse Doucet @bbclysedoucet and two books by Deborah Rodriguez @debb_rod

Specially asking for money for charity / donations in DMs. They should make their cause public with informations that are authentic so people trust them. Last week a case has been proven to be so fake b’coz of that lots of genuine cases are being ignored just because of these scammers here.
Online folks seem ”normal” until they start taking tests as to which vegetable they resemble the most or asking random strangers for money or gifts … bah

Taliban on both sides of the Durand Line have the same ideology and the same leader. So if you declare them “Fitna-e-Khwarej” here, it automatically also applies to Taliban on other side of the DL. Then what about those who trained/nourished them for decades? Any explanation?
