In this next installment of bullpens our guys are working on specific tasks during an at bat. Pre 2k primary pitches that get established early, and pressure/put away pitches that finish off the at bat. All pitchers were briefed on what they needed to work on pitch wise and LHH/RHH before the pen in our individual meetings. See thread below.
For this set up we threw all pitches out of the stretch. Last minute of each set of 2 minutes was with a runner at 2b.
Here is an example of a 2 v 2 execution pen. Each guy was briefed on goals for the pen, specific things they need to work on this week. (Height of the pitch, driving ball to the edge, certain pitch types to LHH/RHH etc). The structure of the pen is in the thread below:
This helps pitchers eliminate spray, continue to drive the ball to a spot and compete in the zone. Added bonus in the 2v2 you can count the number of times they must do a heart rate enhancer. Least amount wins the round or least total wins the competition.
One quick note: Heart rate enhancers should be done immediately following the pitch. We also will add an enhancer after we double up the same offspeed pitch where we don鈥檛 go at least 50% execution with that pitch.
Pitchers must learn to control their rhythm, control their breath, and control their focus throughout this pen. This leads to better execution!

Looking for another way to work connection with the lower half. Med ball throws can help pitchers feel rotation after front foot strike without added stress to the arm from extra throwing. Here we are using just a 4# ball with a delivery emphasis.
