Last summer I published my book, Modern and Contemporary Yorkshire Poetry, and bade farewell to the chapter of my life in academia. After a hiatus (read: went backpacking) I have turned my writing, researching, and proofreading skills to the freelance market. 1/2

Without bold action, the fires in southern Europe will become the new norm. So will the fires, floods, droughts, smog and crop failures in the Global South that our media largely ignores. Those who sneer at radical change are letting our planet die. It's time to fight back.

Alright, lovely friends! I have created an Open Letter to @UCEA1, urging them to see redress of pay deductions as a pragmatic step and a powerful recognition of the passion university staff bring to all they do. This cannot be the reason negotiations fail. the.organise.network/campaig…

The English language is famous for its DIVERSE and CREATIVE expressions. Ranging from captivating to utterly ridiculous, it never fails to impress. This thread shows some of the most BIZARRE English sayings I've encountered. And trust me, the LAST ONE is hilarious! 🧵 👇

Several years, jobs, and lockdowns after I wrote it, my book, ‘Modern and Contemporary Yorkshire Poetry: Cultural Identities, Political Crises’ will by published on 31st July. This feels very surreal, and also very nice. 📚 routledge.com/9781032063409

The whole team & dogs/cats were safely 300m inside the airport perimeter. We were turned away as @JoeBiden @POTUS had changed paperwork rules just 2 hours earlier. Went through hell to get there & we were turned away into the chaos of those devastating explosions. #OperationArk

So incredibly sorry to share the news that Rolling Stone Charlie Watts has passed away. He was a legend who wouldn’t even let the lack of a drum kit get in the way of rocking:

I support the @RNLI rescuing migrants. If you agree, RT.🌟 I’m sick of seeing Nigel Farage and others gaslighting them.

The speed with which he says ‘beans’ makes me intensely curious about what he thought she was going to say Hancock was full of.

Just awoke from a dream in which Boris Johnson sat on my last vegan sausage roll and it was squashed and I swore and my parents were mortified and yes I think this is exactly how this would go down.

I had saved that sausage roll until the end because it was the best bit. And he squashed it.
