This is big news for the WNBA. I can confirm that the NBA has hired the executive search arm of Caitlin Clark’s agency to find the next WNBA commissioner. Perhaps the ridiculous minimization of Clark’s impact, led by Cathy Engelbert, is coming to an end.

As controversy swirls over Alyssa Thomas’ one-game suspension, I reached out to WNBPA exec. director Terri Jackson, asking this:
“Is it punishable to put your fist in another player’s throat, or is it not?”
Players’ union spokesman: “The WNBPA respectfully declines comment.”

The self-proclaimed "journalists" who cover the WNBA are not actually journalists. Not even the ones who work for big media like ESPN, The Athletic, and media serving the markets where the teams are.
They're no-talent hacks who simply distribute press releases, quotes from press conferences, and social media comments that fit the story they want to tell.
Or, they latch onto a provocative photo and write fiction with their guesses on what was going on when the photo was taken. They don't bother to dig into facts on what was actually happening. What they end up publishing is crap.
In journalism school (my BA is in journalism), we were taught to gather facts from diverse sources, then do a bit of digging to learn what isn't readily obvious to give some depth to our stories. We were also taught to aim for being fair and balanced.
Most of these WNBA "reporters" in the mainstream media add zero value. No back stories, no context, no depth. They simply watch a press conference, a podcast, or a social media firestorm and tell you what you could easily find and watch yourself.

As a former NBA team physician (76ers) for many years, who has sat through many many games up close, I can say without hesitation that WNBA players and officials have somehow been signaled and cleared to neutralize or even harm (for reasons I cannot fully understand) Caitlin Clark. Hopefully they will wake up and appreciate this league-saving extremely talented once in a generation player. Kind of reminds me of when our amazing Allen Iverson came in to the league. Although I don’t believe anyone set out to harm him, the league & refs initially seemed to do their best to try to neutralize him and (unsuccessfully) reduce his star-power. With Caitlin, it’s gone to a whole new and unacceptable level where I believe actual intentional harm is in play.

Angelica Suffren needs to be investigated ….when reffing a Caitlin Clark game these are the numbers:
May 24, 2025 vs Liberty :
- Liberty FTA 32 vs Fever FTA 15 (-17)
- Clark suffered an injury this game that kept her out for over 2 weeks.
June 14th, 2025 vs Liberty (again):
- Liberty 30 FTA vs Fever 16 FTA (-14)
June 6th, 2026 vs Liberty (AGAIN):
- Liberty 40 FTA vs Fever 15 FTA (-25)
June 24th, 2026 vs Mercury:
- Mercury 33 FTA vs Fever 19 FTA (-14)
- Clark injured during game
- Egregious miss on a flagrant foul on Clark where the ref said, they “didn’t see it”

There is a tremendous financial impact to the pounding Caitlin Clark is taking. She is now out of Saturday’s 8 pm nationally televised game on CBS. We know from three seasons of TV data that viewership for that game will now be half of what it would have been had she played.
