When you look at the wnba - it's about narratives not basketball. What narrative did the CC-less whistle serve last year? All we heard was "better without her," "one game from finals" etc. If you don't think the friendly whistle wasn't engineered and kept them more competitive than they should have been I don't know what to say.

You can sum up the wnba narrative with this post and the competing “angel made three in a row post” - both are ridiculous narratives. Look at her form - she’s not a shooter and needs tons of work before anyone should expect results. She shoots 18% or whatever bc of that form - however that’s not her game so why even work on that now?! But the two extremes here show how dumb wnba coverage is. Making three uncontested shots in a controlled environment with awful form is proof of nothing. Missing a bunch of shots she will never take in a game is also proof of nothing other than wasted practice time.

I’m a huge basketball fan - and am not interested in watching the wnba finals. The wnba has exposed itself the last three years and is largely not about basketball ata all. Fans who came looking to see basketball have been demonized and gaslit. Nothing compelling in it for me. No offense to the teams - valks are a great story and angel has changed a lot of minds this year with her play if not her attitude. But I can’t support this product in current state. Maybe next year if changes are made. Someone said it well - they had thirty years of irrelevance and are propping up the ppl who led them to irrelevance - who are now full of rage, jealousy and hate for the new players and fans. Hard pass. Clean this shit up and I’ll be happy to pay attention. Until then it’s CC or nothing.
