.@JamesTalarico: There is something broken in America.
Our economic system is broken. Our political system is broken. Even our relationships with each other feel broken.
That’s because the most powerful people in the world want it that way.
They want us looking left and right at each other instead of looking up at them. The real fight in this country is not left vs right, it’s top vs bottom.
Tonight we sent a crystal clear message to the people at the top: We will not be conquered.

The US midterms elections turned out to be an utter disaster for Donald Trump and Republicans. This disaster had many factors, but by far and away the biggest factor started on February 28th when Donald Trump launched his foolish war against Iran for Israel.
After campaigning on a platform of being a ‘peace President’, Donald Trump betrayed the hopes of the American people and became the second coming of George W. Bush. After railing against the madness and delusions of neocon foreign policy, he appointed the same pro-Israel neocons to the highest positions in his administration, who convinced him that a war on Iran would somehow be a good idea.
The campaign donations and power of the Israel lobby over American foreign policy convinced him to throw his domestic agenda of an era of American revival out of the window, and pursue a foreign war so obviously disastrous, that not even his war criminal predecessors could be convinced by Israel to launch it.
The hubris and disaster began on day one. By assassinating Ali Khamenei and Iran’s leadership, which had continuously exercised restraint and avoided a major war, they allowed a more hardline and determined Iranian leadership to take power and impose tremendous costs on the US, and entire global economy.
The fantasy of a regime change uprising evaporated into thin air as the Iranian population rallied around the flag, and the only regime change turned out to be replacing Ayatollah Khamenei with Ayatollah Khamenei.
A war that was supposed to last ‘a few weeks’ has instead gone on for 250 days. Genocidal threats of wiping out an entire civilisation achieved nothing in negotiations, the Strait of Hormuz still has not returned to pre-war conditions, and global energy prices remain sharply elevated.
Despite War Secretary Pete Hegseth’s odious worship of American warplanes bringing ‘death and destruction, all day long’, none of the US’ war objectives were achieved.
As each day passes, the US economy and global economy are pushed closer to a major crisis. Already struggling working class Americans are facing financial misery as the rising cost of living from Trump’s war suffocates them.
And yet stunningly, Donald Trump has not realised his catastrophic mistake, and is considering resuming the war on Iran despite global oil reserves already exhausted, leaving the US and global economy without any buffer for the consequences of a resumed war.
The alarming short-sightedness of the American President, the global disaster he has caused, and the bewildering display of hypnotised loyalty to genocidal war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, who achieved his dream of getting the US to fight Israel’s war against Iran for him, has infuriated millions of struggling Americans, and the midterm results reflect it.
America First was exposed as codeword for Israel First, and the American people paid the price for it. Trump sold the vision of reviving the American Dream for Netanyahu’s dream of Israeli hegemony, and a Greater Israel.
Washington’s empire is now in a paralysed state of dysfunction: stuck in a quagmire abroad, its economy creaking under the weight of the quagmire, and political deadlock locked in with a Democrat ‘blue wave.’
Of course, nothing will fundamentally change in the US, since the Democrats and Republicans simply represent different parts of the capitalist class that rapaciously concentrate more wealth into its hands, while the rest increasingly own nothing.
Whatever is left of the US’ soft power evaporates into thin air, its hard power is increasingly questioned as supposedly the world’s most powerful military could not defeat a regional power it has kept in economic misery for over 4 decades with sanctions, and most of the world views the US as a dangerous rogue state that brings nothing but war and destruction, disrupting the rest of the world’s concentration on economic development.
A humiliating state of affairs for the empire in decline.

Tonight was a total referendum on Trump.
He told people to vote like he was on the ballot and they did.
Trump covered up the Epstein files protecting rapists and pedophiles, started a foreign war no one wanted and killed a school full of kids, put his rich elite donors before the struggling Americans who put him in office, made life unaffordable with his tariffs, and caused gas and diesel prices to skyrocket while he played the market and sold crypto.
And Republicans stood behind him silently clapping like trained baby seals.
And Trump ran me and Thomas Massie out of the Congress and our Republican colleagues stayed silent.
But really it’s what Trump did to the American people.
And tonight they sent him a clear message.
But it’s the rest of Republicans that need to learn the lesson and drastically change course.
And I’m not sure if they’re capable of that.

He predicts Rubio will run against him and lose. As for Vance? “God bless him in a Dumbledore costume... not gonna happen.”
TIM DILLON: “Ted Cruz is not going to be the president. Let’s just say that. Ted Cruz will never be the president. His family won’t vote for him. Marco Rubio will probably run for the Republicans. Vance is, you know, poor Vance. I mean, what are we gonna do? God bless him in a Dumbledore costume. That’s not gonna happen. Jon Ossoff will be the next president. I’m putting my money on it right here, Polymarket or whatever. Jon Ossoff is, he’s the guy.”
TAYLOR LORENZ: “Yeah, he has the hype. He has the momentum. And he’s able to kind of speak to the progressive wing. Like, they like him, but he’s also centrist enough to appeal to the normies.”

Republicans earned this humiliation.
Newsflash for the GOP: campaigning on no new wars and lower prices, then starting a major war and raising prices, isn’t a good political strategy.
Trump and the Republican Party were handed a generational opportunity in 2024.
Groups such as MAHA voters and young men, along with growing support among Hispanic and Muslim voters, helped give them a coalition that could have reshaped American politics for a generation.
They squandered it in two years.
What happened tonight is the opposite of political rocket science.
The GOP invited everyone into its “big tent,” then betrayed the people who showed up.
Broken promises on virtually everything except closing the border.
What did they expect would happen?
They confused support for their promises with unconditional loyalty to their party.
They acted like winning an election meant they no longer had to listen to the people who won it for them.
The biggest slap in the face was to MAGA itself.
Their most loyal supporters were promised a government that would finally put them first.
Republicans cannot campaign on changing everything, fail to deliver on the things people care about most, and then blame those people for being angry.
The handling of the Epstein files, the promises surrounding DOGE being abandoned, and the endless cycle of big announcements followed with zero change or action only compounded the issue.
You cannot build an entire movement around exposing corruption and demanding accountability, then act offended when your own supporters demand both from you.
What exactly were Republicans asking voters to reward tonight?
At some point, “the Democrats are worse” stops being a campaign and starts being an admission that you have nothing else to offer.
The Republican Party took an extraordinary political opening and turned it into a case study in arrogance, complacency, and wasted potential.
But you could argue this is the best possible outcome for Republicans before 2028.
They just received a brutal warning while they still have two years to change course.
If their response is to blame voters, attack critics, and insist everything is going perfectly, they deserve what comes next.
Life after Trump is approaching.
Republicans have to decide whether they will return to the neocon politics their own voters rejected, remain trapped in defending everything Trump does, or build a party capable of keeping its promises.
Democrats, meanwhile, have just been handed the opportunity Republicans wasted.
Their biggest mistake would be assuming tonight means voters have embraced every part of the Democratic agenda.
Voters punishing Republicans is not a blank check for Democrats.
If Democrats spend the next two years indulging their own ideological factions, letting the DSA set the direction, and dismissing concerns about affordability and everyday life, they will make the exact same mistake.
Republicans thought anger at Democrats would spare them from having to deliver.
Democrats should not be stupid enough to believe anger at Republicans will spare them either.
Neither party owns the people who vote for it.
Earn their trust, keep your promises, or expect to lose it.

Trump waged a failed war on Iran for Israel, as his NSC director and Secretary of State admitted, and now the war has come home.
Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz became a vice grip around the neck of the GOP, especially in the heartland, where diesel prices are 70% higher than a year ago, and farmers have been forced to leave crops in the ground.
Democrats are ahead in senate races in Kansas and Nebraska, agro producer states where Republicans always roll to victory like a big wheel through a corn field. And they’re up in purple Iowa, which would give them control of the senate.
The Dems have also flipped the seat of Lindsey Graham, the late neocon who advised Netanyahu on how to manipulate Trump into the war, resoundingly defeating his sister in South Carolina, where they haven’t won a senate race since the days of Fritz Hollings, an old school conservative populist who opposed the Gulf war and railed against the neocons.
Trump’s promise of $15 billion in aid to farmers getting hammered by surging diesel costs failed to stop the bleeding. And it’s now another cost of the war.
The GOP strategy of hanging Hasan Piker and his pro-Palestine politics like an albatross around the neck of Democrats was not just bizarre, as most swing state voters had never heard of the podcaster, it also reminded them how fanatically Israelcentric the party had become under Trump.
The Democrats had much more success weaponizing Jeffrey Epstein as a symbol of Trump’s corruption who subtly invoked malign Israeli influence over the White House.
Trump exuded desperation with his pledge today to end $4 billion in annual aid to Israel. He seemed determined to repeat the con he pulled off in Dearborn, MI at the end of 2024, where he promised to end the Gaza genocide that Biden and Harris backed. Less than two years later, he’s transformed MAGA into MIGA, and can never go back.
Where the “special relationship” with Israel was once a matter of bipartisan unity among party elites, it’s become a polarizing wedge issue and a poison pill for any president.
Tomorrow, Zionist forces will pull back and retrench. Schumer, Jeffries and presidential prospects like Josh Shapiro will become their next line of defense, and possibly their last reliable one in a party whose base is now passionate about ending America’s attachment to Israel.
