It was never supposed to be Fauci's decision. On March 13, 2020 the National Security Council took charge from the CDC. Thats right. The spies and spooks pushed aside the properly authorized public health agencies, and proceeded to ride rough shod over civil liberties when current data suggest we would be better off if we had done almost nothing.

Do you think enough has happened for people to start regaining trust in public health? VP: No way. I wouldn't trust it at all. What still needs to happen for public health to legitimately earn back the trust of the public? VP: I don't know if it's even possible.

For those of us still looking for some optimism, Vinay also said this about FDA reform on The Doctors’ Lounge podcast: “I still believe anything is possible when it comes to the FDA and changing the agency. If you have a president, a secretary of health and human services, and a commissioner who are aligned and are willing to do what they think is right and they have the shared singular purpose, you can do anything in the agency. … The amount of regulatory discretion that the agency has is tremendous. … if you have alignment from everybody, you can do anything. … the agency can transform.” Of course, that’s a big if. But I still find it encouraging that he sees the potential for meaningful change at FDA.

This statement from Vinay is 100% true -- but gets you laughed at and told you don't understand how DC works if you say it to anyone: "If you have a president, a secretary of health and human services, and a commissioner who are aligned and are willing to do what they think is right and they have the shared singular purpose, you can do anything in the agency"

Let them laugh. At least Vinay is identifying conditions under which meaningful reform at FDA is possible. Those conditions may be difficult to achieve, but that doesn’t mean the agency is beyond reform.

1/🚨 A “measles-positive” PCR does NOT tell you everything you think it does. It can detect measles RNA. But by itself, it CANNOT tell you: • wild vs vaccine strain • viable vs residual virus • who infected whom • whether measles caused a death That is the Measles Certainty Gap — and why official outbreak counts often rest on surveillance classifications that do not establish strain, infectiousness, transmission source, or causation in every individual case. 🧵👇 sayerji.substack.com/p/the-m…

Glad you covered this. It’s important to highlight another transmission risk considering this whole drama is in Lancaster where GSK has a vaccine plant and makes a live measles vaccine. (It’s not clear if they make the vax in Lancaster as those docs are redacted) Vaccine labs have leaked in the past to create PCR positivity in the community unique to the vaccine product. Beck et al The public should demand Shapiro provide evidence that the COVID vax leak in Seattle isn’t the source of his measles claim in Lancaster. Particularly given his financial conflicts. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128…

Well here's a turn-up for the books. That "weird" BsmBI site in the RBM in RaTG13 that has 4 silent mutations out of 6 compared to Wuhan-Hu-1 has a new friend. RpuRB21065, from Thailand, uploaded on 6 October 2026, has exactly the same CGTCTC there. It's also the closest...
Is RaTG13 a "yes see'em" reverse genetics system? It rather comprehensively fails the "is it natural" test that SARS-CoV-2 itself passed, which was based on estimating where the BsaI/BsmBI sites should be based on recombination and mutational drift...

Walter Kirn is right that curiosity is warranted. A man repeatedly accused of embodying the very figure he lectures on has spent years delivering invitation-only, off-the-record talks on the Antichrist—first in San Francisco, then Rome, now Nashville inside the Grand Lodge of Tennessee Free and Accepted Masons. The reconstruction that has now surfaced with his blessing is not an act of Christian piety. It is a strategic reframing of power. Thiel’s stated thesis, drawn from the leaked and reconstructed lectures and his own prior writing, is that the Antichrist arrives not as a mad scientist or conqueror but as a Luddite who promises “peace and safety” (1 Thessalonians 5:3). Anyone who seeks to restrain technological acceleration, AI deployment, or surveillance capability—climate activists, effective altruists, AI safety researchers, regulators—is cast as a legionnaire of that figure. Greta Thunberg, Eliezer Yudkowsky, and aspects of Bill Gates appear in the record as types or shadows. Opposition to unrestrained technological progress is treated as the modern form of the satanic. America is described as both the potential katechon (the restrainer) and the most likely ground zero for one-world government. The lectures remain closed-door; the public receives curated fragments. This is not the language of a man whose life is ordered toward the actual content of the faith he invokes. Thiel has publicly declared himself proud to be gay, has lived openly in that orientation for decades, and has children through surrogacy. The Christianity he deploys is heterodox by his own description and is applied selectively: it supplies an apocalyptic frame that sacralizes acceleration and the tools of total visibility while remaining silent on the sexual and relational inversions that traditional Christian teaching has treated as fundamental. The attraction is not mysterious. Christian eschatology is the most potent narrative available in the West for converting restraint into heresy and converting one’s own projects into the necessary restraint against ultimate evil. Palantir, the company Thiel co-founded and whose surveillance infrastructure is sold to governments, is the practical counterpart. When the man who builds systems of comprehensive visibility defines any limit on those systems as Antichristic, the result is not theology. It is the insulation of concentrated power from ordinary accountability. The same pattern appears across the technology oligarchy: religious or quasi-religious language is used to reclassify democratic or ethical friction as existential threat. The microcosm is a closed lecture series held in a Masonic lodge. The macrocosm is the progressive transfer of visibility, coordination, and coercive capacity into private hands that answer to no electorate and that treat limits as satanic. The simplest account consistent with the public record is that Thiel is not primarily pursuing the restraint of evil. He is pursuing the removal of restraint on the power he and his class already hold, and he has selected the most effective available story to do it. Secret lectures that reframe regulation and caution as the work of the Antichrist do not illuminate the end times. They illuminate the present arrangement of power. The remedy is ordinary and proportionate: full public release of the lectures, open debate on the actual capabilities and contracts of Palantir and related systems, and rejection of any claim that opposition to concentrated technological power is itself a form of the satanic. Anything less leaves the narrative untested and the power unexamined. theverge.com/tech/1014252/pe… theguardian.com/us-news/2025… wired.com/story/the-real-sta… reason.com/2025/10/14/i-list… npr.org/2016/07/21/486966882… washingtonpost.com/technolog… @laralogan @walterkirn @PirateWires @gb_rango @elonmusk @JDVance @TuckerCarlson @ShellenbergerMD @DavidSacks @vivekgramaswamy @JamesLindsay @MattWalshBlog @AllieBethStuckey @BenShapiro @realDonaldTrump @ToddBlanche

If you want an interesting subject to learn about, dive into the development of Majorana 1 antiparticles.
Kinda niche, but if you've been reading about the Majorana-1 chip and the potential implications for the future of quantum computing, I went back to find newspaper articles about the discovery of the Majorana particle.

In essence, this is no different than running risky Gain-of-Function research on on a dangerous pathogen... Uncontrolled H5N1 outbreaks on mink farms are a global risk, as Mink have α2,6 receptors similar to humans. The virus could evolve that infection route in Mink.
