not only am i not worried about the crypto community's ability to handle the upcoming ai/quantum threat, i will venture to say that in the next 2 yrs the world will realize crypto is far better prepared for it than the rest of the internet and finance. we've had a trillion dollar *irreversible* honey pot for a decade, producing a far more battletested system and adversarial security culture than pretty much anywhere else on earth.

Single image showing why funding arb is not free money.
Graph shows backtested PNL of one of today's top opportunities (PURR), currently running at 450% APY.
Very likely that in a few days this continues to be down only.
Execution costs are excluded here, so reality looks even worse.
It's of course possible to make money via funding, but it's rarely from these short-lived, extreme outliers masquerading as "opportunities".
A sophisticated execution system that can open and close these high APY situations efficiently helps, but if you normalize these temporary returns over a year, you'll probably land somewhere around 20-30% APY (which of course is still good).
And if that's the number to beat, basis arb becomes an interesting and more relaxed alternative (especially if done manually) that also offers less volatility.
In contrast to many other funding rates comparison sites, our new platform (coming this Q4) will highlight funding arbs AND basis trades.

Extended airdrop math 👀
Extended has raised $19M and generated around $35M in fees, according to DefiLlama.
• Total supply: 1B tokens
• Airdrop allocation: 30% (300M tokens)
• Total airdrop points: 70M
Each point gets approximately 4.286 tokens.
• $100M FDV → $0.10 per token → $0.43 per point
• $200M FDV → $0.20 per token → $0.86 per point
• $300M FDV → $0.30 per token → $1.29 per point
• $500M FDV → $0.50 per token → $2.14 per point
i think they gonna list around $100M FVD

This is a good framework. Devil is in the details, but this eliminates most of the structuring risk that people are concerned about.

One of the reasons to employ young people is they have no concept of risk. As time goes on all traders wear the scars of bad decisions.
But in order to make money you need to dream big. Best pairing is young gun with old risk manager. Always.
Hedge funds are firing juniors because AI does their work cheaper. Hedge fund manager Alix Pasquet on why that's the exact wrong move:
Alix Pasquet (@alixpasquet), managing partner of hedge fund Prime Macaya Capital Management, explains:
"One of the mistakes hedge funds are making today is adopting these AI tools and not understanding it's impacting their culture."
"If your reaction is 'I have to get rid of these juniors because I'm getting all the value from the AI tools,' well, you just fucked up."
"You know what a culture really needs? Juniors. They ask the naive question. They give you energy. They develop."
"The legacy of a hedge fund manager is not just that you made your partners a lot of money. It's that you made your team. It's a godsend and a blessing that so many people left Julian Robertson and made fortunes, multi-billionaires. I could name 12 of them. That's a legacy."
"If you're not hiring juniors because you're getting cheaper AI tools, you have a cultural problem. And you're probably gonna realize it's not fun to go to the office anymore."
"You know what's fun? Having young people around you and taking down big scores together. Let's go get rich together. It's fun."

think market remains choppy til fomc wed. since it's 80% odds of rate hike, if no hike the markets go big green. if hike then a quick dip before quick recovery (got bids set)
ai scare from frontier labs might scare the hoes for a bit, but that just means more inference and less training. doesn't slow down build out, memory, or rest of supply chain.
furthermore, US's AI race is national security against China. if RSI is here, it's also in China. the moment China materially catches up to astra, any restraint will be thrown out the window
nothing stops the train. onwards we go

I cannot tell you how frustrating this is. Twenty-five years in markets, years researching monetary policy, supply-side reform, countless articles and papers on growth, and Britain still prefers celebrity economics.
