Lynn Grace, 68, was out of options for her pulmonary fibrosis and signing up for hospice & end-of-life care, when Dr. Anupam Kumar (@umn_dom) and the @MHealthFairview transplant team stepped in. Just two weeks later, on Christmas Day 2023, Lynn received the life-saving call she’d prayed for. Read more: bit.ly/3EQ9Am5.

“Perfection is impossible.” Many of us are perfectionists and dwell on our failures, but by learning and moving on, only can we fully commit to the next case with “intensity, clarity, and focus.” Words of wisdom from @rogerfederer 🙇🏻‍♂️🤯

The prediction in the article was made in 1953, when households were using rotary phones that were plugged into walls. The prediction is impressive considering that the first mobile phone wouldn't be invented for another 20 years! However, it should be noted that Nikola Tesla had made an earlier prediction back in 1926 that was also spot on: "When wireless is perfectly applied, the whole earth will be converted into a huge brain, which in fact it is, all things being particles of a real and rhythmic whole. We shall be able to communicate with one another instantly, irrespective of distance. Not only this, but through television and telephony, we shall see and hear one another as perfectly as though we were face to face, despite intervening distances of thousands of miles; and the instruments through which we shall be able to do this will be amazingly simple compared with our present telephone. A man will be able to carry one in his vest pocket."

Congratulations to India for landing Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon — joining Russia, USA, & China as the only countries to have achieved this feat. More importantly, it’s the first mission of any country to arrive near the Lunar South Pole - a possible location for future Moon bases.

Maintenance of Certification (#MOC): When we (physicians) took our medical degrees, residency training, and commitment to lifelong learning & patient lives…and got duped into paying @ABMSCert millions of $$$ for the privilege (ahem, requirement) of taking time away from the bedside to fill out multiple choice tests…so that we can prove we are still, indeed, physicians…🤔 Some math: ABMS and the top 5 specialty boards reported $190million in revenue for their most recent tax year on their 990’s. They paid out $5.5million in CEO compensation alone, including explicit contract agreements for first-class travel, “club membership”, and “discretionary funds”…🤨 Meanwhile, 940k physicians in the US are certified by at least one of these boards, paying (in both fees and time cost) roughly $23k/year or $21 BILLION annually. Feels like a lot of money for not a whole lotta value…no? Prove me wrong, @ABMSCert @ABIMcert @ab_peds @boardobgyn @TheABFM #medtwitter
