⚫⚪ ON THIS DAY — 20 AUGUST 1982
“THAT’S MY BOY!”
44 years ago today, this was the headline Newcastle United supporters woke up to — Kevin Keegan had sensationally signed for the Magpies the previous day.
But Auf Wiedersehen, Pet fans will recognise this particular front page for another reason…
📺 It appears in the final episode of Series 1.
After months working in Germany, it’s the news of Keegan signing for Newcastle that finally gives Oz the reason to head back home to Tyneside.
The former Liverpool star, European Cup winner and twice European Footballer of the Year had dropped into the Second Division to play at St James’ Park — a huge moment for Newcastle and its supporters.
“It’s Geordie Keegan!” ⚫⚪
Who remembers Oz finding out the news?
