Today in New York, @lfdecentralized brings financial institutions and builders together for an invite-only workshop on a single subject: privacy for financial services. Over two days, hosted by @MorganStanley and @Citi, the agenda moves from the privacy stacks institutions are building on, to privacy in wholesale CBDC, to the views of the payment networks, asset managers, custodians, market infrastructures and banks that will have to run whatever comes next. On day two, Gateway's co-founder and CTPO, Igor @mandrigin, joins the Privacy Builders’ Panel alongside The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) and the @SolanaFndn , with @the_matter_labs, Applied Blockchain and @silencelabs_sl. Each comes at privacy from a different starting point. The shared question is what it takes for a regulated institution to operate it: confidentiality between participants, a defined view for supervisors, and settlement that still works across networks. Igor brings the approach behind Open Privacy Suite: open-source privacy, layered onto the EVM stack institutions already run. @pradeep_rvsingh and Igor are in the room for both days. Thank you to LF Decentralized Trust, Morgan Stanley and Citi for hosting. 💜 🗓 Privacy Builders’ Panel · Fri 23 Oct · 12:45–1:30 pm ET

🚨 Nightmare day for cybersecurity Multiple major security incidents, active exploits, supply chain compromises... If you run production systems, start patching NOW. PHP: Two critical unauthenticated RCEs. Attackers already exploiting them. Patch NOW LiteLLM: v1.107.0 on PyPI and Docker is BACKDOORED. Steals cloud, SSH, and AI credentials. Pin 1.106.2. Rotate secrets. eMudhra: A certificate authority's keys were crackable. Update your browsers, systems, and trust stores. Node.js / Next.js / React: Security releases for Brotli RCE, TLS bypasses, and TWO critical Next.js RCEs. TiDB Cloud: PingCAP breached through stolen credentials. Customer information and other sensitive data exfiltrated. Read the attacker's release, fun stuff. Plex2Shell: Weaponized within HOURS of the PoC. Attackers already deploying cryptominers and proxy backdoors. BeyondTrust / Ivanti: Actively exploited zero-days added to CISA's KEV catalog. BeyondTrust attacks linked to a China-nexus campaign. And that's not even the full list. Patch. Audit. Rotate. NOW.

PSA: Do NOT use public WiFi or shady DNS servers for the next few weeks. SSL is practically broken and you can be attcked with an MITM attack. Your ISP and other intermediaries can also spy on you. Use a trusted VPN. It will take a few days at least to flush out this crap CA.
Instead of using 384 bit random private keys, they used private keys like the super secret, unguessable number 4. They are a cryptography company. They had one job. They're selling Post-Quantum Cryptography while doing shit like this lmao.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
SSL/TLS is not broken. The vulnerability involved eight eMudhra intermediate certificates, which major browsers and operating systems (Chrome, Firefox, Apple, and Microsoft) had already blocked by October 20. Updated devices are protected against these MITM attacks. arstechnica.com/security/2026/… emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com

That will be the first non-EVM chain mainnet connected to @0xPolygon @Agglayer. Using the tech that we built at Gateway.
Counting down to @0xMiden partner mainnet on October 26th. Proud to be one of the teams going live first. 🙌

Being quiet on socials lately. A lot of nice travels, very interesting conversations. The IRL meetings are so back.
Next week, Gateway is in New York. 🇺🇸 Our Co-founder & CEO @pradeep_rvsingh and Co-founder & CTPO Igor @mandrigin will both be at the @lfdecentralized Privacy for Financial Services Workshop, 22–23 October, hosted by Morgan Stanley and Citi. Banks and market infrastructures are moving settlement onchain, but none of them will put positions, counterparties or client data where every other participant can read them. Supervisors and auditors still need a view they can rely on, scoped to what they’re entitled to see. This workshop brings together the institutions setting those requirements and the teams building the infrastructure to meet them. It’s a problem both of our founders have seen from each side. Pradeep started his career at Citi and UniCredit before building Nethermind, and now leads Gateway’s work with banks and market infrastructures. Igor Mandrigin leads Gateway’s product and technology, including the design of our Open Privacy Suite. Igor is also speaking on the Privacy Builders’ Panel. More on that in our next post. Book time with Gateway team while they’re in New York: gateway.fm/book-a-call

7/ Encrypted data can be harvested today and decrypted later if the maths gives way. Data that was never sent can’t be. @mandrigin, our co-founder and CTPO, explained why that risk shaped the design a year ago: xitter.cf/mandrigin/status/21081…
Yeah, while designing the Open Privacy Suite (and the design might feel simplistic) -- those particular risks were at the top for me. Even 1 year ago was pretty obvious that there is a risk with all new cryptography and harvesting attacks against any cyphertexts onchain (and Off-chain too). So, we tried to solve the problem of privacy in a way that doesn't introduce anything new, and accept the limitations of that.

1/ New on the Gateway blog: a deep dive into Open Privacy Suite, our privacy layer for shared institutional EVM networks. It covers why privacy decides whether a shared financial network can launch, and why we built it in layers. 🧵

Onchain money should be stored in a private multisig with spending limits. Compromise of a private key should never lead to a catastrophic loss of funds. Until we have this, we are not ready for normal people using blockchains.
UPDATE: I can confirm that the Ledger supply chain is compromised in Europe as well. @Ledger should initiate an immediate product recall to protect users. I just purchased a second device from a different Mediamarkt location today, recorded the unboxing process, and discovered spyware once again (video linked in the second tweet). The device was compromised in the exact same manner, featuring identical modifications (such as additional cables and an LTE module). This indicates its a widespread issue rather than an isolated incident, potentially affecting Ledger inventory across MediaMarkt and Saturn stores throughout Europe (comprising over 1,000 stores across 11 countries). My initial hypothesis was that these devices were returns that looked unopened to the employees and were just sold again as new however, a MediaMarkt employee confirmed that the device I purchased was not a return, and that returned Ledgers are sent directly back to the manufacturer rather than resold. Store records show the inventory originated from Aqipa GmbH. While Ledger's CTO was unsure if Aqipa serves as the direct distributor between Ledger and MediaMarkt, it appears to be the case. Given that Aqipa distributes across Europe, any physical retail store receiving stock through them may be at risk. I sent the first ledger to mark and the second one is going to ledger now, so that they can analyse it. If you purchased a ledger from anyone other than the official ledger store, make sure to check your device!!

PQ-secure encryption schemes. ZK-friendly hashes vs hash-friendly ZK. Identities and verification. Trust and verify. When I need to pay a fine, here is the UI am supposed to enter my credit card details to.

Miden's architecture needs to be studied -- so many hidden gems there.
Miden has so many cool (and, in may ways, unique) properties and features - and as the mainnet approaches, I've decided to post about at least one such feature per day until the launch. will start today :)

Ethereum's Fast Confirmation Rule (FCR) is an underappreciated feature. It allows rationalising block finality by counting attestations for each block instead of waiting for X blocks. Gnosis Chain is the first network in production utilising FCR, lowering deposit times from minutes to <1m!
Gnosis bridges are now the first production system to act on FCR on Ethereum mainnet. Starting today, the xDAI bridge and Omnibridge use Ethereum's Fast Confirmation Rule (FCR). Deposits from Ethereum are confirmed in about one slot, instead of waiting for finality. Bridging from Ethereum to Gnosis Chain just got MUCH faster, and it's a big step on Gnosis Chain's path to @etheconomiczone. Here's why it matters.
