🇨🇦 Canada’s message to russia: You don’t get to bomb Ukrainian cities and then send your juniors to play hockey in Alberta like civilised people. No Russian or Belarusian teams at the World Juniors. Not under your flag. Not under any other. Period.

The 80s 🤯
Observe the rigorous health and safety standards used when cleaning the clock face of Big Ben on Westminster Palaces Elizabeth Tower in the 1980s. Not a bit of me if I'm honest.

We have intel that Russia is preparing a new massive attack on our country – primarily targeting energy and logistics. The assumption is basically that tomorrow the world will be watching the American midterms, and what is happening here in Ukraine, along with our difficulties with air defense and Patriot missiles, will be overlooked. We need signals from the world to Russia that will make them feel that terror is no good, that it will bring no gains, and that as long as this war continues, their oil will burn, and they will not be able to make money doing business with the world. We must not play games with Russia’s oil or gas revenues. We must put pressure on Russia in such a way that it has no alternative but to end this war. America can do this.

An utterly horrific Russian attack on the settlement of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region. Since this morning, the settlement has been hit several times by aerial bombs. The strikes targeted a school used for humanitarian purposes – people were receiving humanitarian aid there. After the first aerial bomb strike, there was a double-tap strike with nine more bombs, specifically targeting the shelter where people were taking cover. Tragically, 18 people have already been reported killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Five people have been injured. A rescue operation is underway at the site, and the search for people continues. It is extremely difficult. Military forces, first responders, and special services are involved. The Russians could not have been unaware that every week, local residents who had remained in Komyshuvakha received humanitarian aid at that very location. And this is further proof that Russia wants no de-escalation and no real justice. After the humanitarian operation in Oleshky, there was a moment when the next steps could have shown that progress toward peace was possible. With these killings, Russia is sending an entirely opposite signal: Russia is counting on more killings. There must be a response to this – a response from the world. A strong and tough response. A response to Russia. And support for Ukraine. We must protect lives. Thank you to everyone who is helping!

I cannot tell you how bullish I am on Stripe in the agentic era. They are the ONLY connector inside Grok Bot that have the kind of granular permissions + human-in-the-loop prompts I *expect* for agents. Every other connector - like ones from Google for eg Gmail or Docs - feel hopelessly amateur. Like WHY do I not have a way to have the Gmail connector ask for this kind of user permission before it lets an agent read any *sensitive* emails like password reset ones etc. Stripe ygmi and I have no idea why others are not copying the very least what Stripe does

During my meeting with King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, I spoke about the lives of our people under constant Russian attacks and our diplomatic efforts with partners to achieve peace. I thank His Majesty for his support and for the meeting. The Netherlands is one of Ukraine’s closest and most reliable partners. We value all the assistance provided. It is important that we can be confident that support for our people will continue. @koninklijkhuis

New @Stripe Economics post from @llamamrama on the AI gaps b/t the US & the EU. The US leads on aggregate AI revenues & consumer adoption. But dive more deeply & the picture is more nuanced, with US-EU gaps closing or even reversing along some measures. stripeeconomics.com/p/europe…

We at Stripe Press are looking for a new Managing Editor, based in New York City. Come and join the most exciting publisher in business.
I’m hiring an NYC-based Managing Editor for @stripepress. The ideal person for this role has substantial editorial experience at a publishing imprint or another publication and is fluent in our universe of ideas, but ideally isn’t my (or our) ideological twin. Stripe Press is a small team with an unusual amount of autonomy. Right now we’re obsessively focused on the future: expanding our catalogue, rethinking our assumptions about the kinds of books we publish (fiction!?), and thinking about how to connect our readers w/ one another beyond the pop-ups we’ve been hosting since 2022. Hoping to meet a lot of brilliant people who love books and are excited about building a world-class publishing institution: stripe.com/careers/listing/m…

You misspelled “Russia”.
What’s actually going on in Ukraine is that there is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people. The former have grown very rich off the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while the latter’s children are conscripted to die in trenches.
