Geoffrey was demobbed on 18 February 1947. He left the army with the rank of war substantive sergeant. He was naturalised as a British citizen on 29 March 1947. Was this thread educational? If so, please consider following my account @DrHelenFry for more WW2 stories. (end).

Itโ€™s really gross to target ADHD for political reasons, and then claim youโ€™re doing it for the benefit of the public. If politicians are genuinely concerned about mental health, pour enough funds into it so every patient receives excellent treatment. Thereโ€™s a mental health crisis because youโ€™ve neglected mental health. Youโ€™ve *always* neglected mental health.

This is Tory scumbag Joe Robertson, he's desperate to kill off the poor and push half-a-million children into poverty, all so he can make himself and his rich mates even richer. Happy Halloween @Conservatives @JoePJRobertson @KemiBadenoch #ToryScum #LCWRA #PIP #Austerity

By "reforming welfare" the @Conservatives mean pushing people to suicide, poor health and death. Murder doesn't take "grit", just a lack of morals.
Surprise surprise, Labour showed their true colours again. There were no welfare savings in the #Budget. Worse, they're trailing MORE SPENDING to deliver some fantasy savings. Reforming welfare takes grit. They have none.

Wonder if new LCWRA claimants have been pushed into even higher risk by a 50% cut to benefits by @UKLabour ? Knowing you were singled out to survive on 25% lower income to help fix the economy must have a huge negative impact.
Replying to @LurgeeLife
Last year a DWP FOI revealed that the % of claimants who qualified for LCW, LCWRA or ESA via the Substantial Risk route who tried & failed to qualify for Daily Living PIP was just under 30% All while Substantial Risk qualification rates have been falling year on year since 2019

NOT BALLOONING! Welfare spending amounted to just under 11% of GDP in the last financial year โ€“ up from 10.4% in 1996-97 but lower than the peak of 12.4% in 2009-10. In fact total non-pensioner benefits have hovered between 4% and 5% for more than 40 years theweek.com/business/economyโ€ฆ

Painful' years ahead, as living standards set to fall. Household disposable income to fall by ยฃ1,050 or 3% by 2029. That is a political choice. 1% have more wealth than 70% of the population combined. Redistribution is off the political agenda. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c6z7โ€ฆ

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ MUSK AND TRUMPโ€™S SATELLITE POWER PLAY IS BACKFIRING WORLDWIDE Elon Musk and Donald Trump wanted to demonstrate just how much power Washington and its technology giants hold over Ukraineโ€™s communications. Instead, they have given governments around the world another reason to build satellite networks that neither the White House nor a single billionaire can switch off. The temporary Starshield shutdown and pressure on Ukraine have brought a much bigger issue into focus: technological sovereignty. And the response is taking shape across several countries. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ CANADA: Ottawa has signed a CAD 2.3 billion agreement with Telesat to expand its Lightspeed satellite constellation, incorporating secure military communications. Canadian manufacturer MDA Space is also receiving additional satellite orders. ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ FINLAND: ICEYE and Nokia are working together on sovereign satellite communications infrastructure, allowing European governments to own and control their networks, including encryption, rather than depend entirely on foreign providers. ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ EUROPEAN UNION: Brussels is expanding its IRISยฒ satellite network, with plans for 348 satellites and an additional โ‚ฌ4 billion in funding. Airbus and Thales Alenia Space are involved in manufacturing and secure government communications systems. ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท SOUTH KOREA: The domestically developed Nuri rocket has deployed 14 payloads, including reconnaissance and military satellites, strengthening Seoulโ€™s independent space capabilities. ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต JAPAN: Tokyo is investing approximately $1 billion in direct-to-device satellite communications, designed to keep ordinary smartphones connected during disasters and military emergencies. ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช GERMANY: Isar Aerospaceโ€™s Spectrum rocket has reached orbit, marking another step toward independent European access to space. And perhaps the most important developments concern Ukraine itself. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ UKRAINE: The UASAT project has completed its registration with the International Telecommunication Union. Preparations for the UASAT-NANO test satellite are underway, laying the groundwork for a Ukrainian-controlled constellation. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟ CZECH REPUBLIC: Prague and Kyiv are advancing cooperation on Suziria, a proposed optical reconnaissance satellite constellation. Ukraine is also expected to receive backup communications capacity through Europeโ€™s GOVSATCOM system. These projects are at different stages, and not all are direct replacements for Starlink. Some provide broadband, others military communications, reconnaissance or independent launch capabilities. But they point in the same direction. Governments increasingly recognize that critical communications cannot depend on the political decisions of another country or the personal discretion of a private technology executive. Musk and Trump wanted to demonstrate who controls the switch. They may have helped convince much of the world that nobody should have that much control in the first place.

i wish people understood that chronically ill people are often grieving their own limitations long before anyone else starts complaining about them. weโ€™re already mourning everything we canโ€™t do. we donโ€™t need to be made to feel guilty for it too.

#bbcqt Freedom of Movement is NOT an unconditional right under EU law: it is conditional on finding a job or being self-sufficient i.e. not being a burden on taxpayers. Otherwise there is no right to stay.
