Introducing the All-New Blockstream Jade Plus 🔐
Simple Enough for Beginners, Advanced Enough for Cypherpunks
Jade Plus has a redefined look and feel.
Available in a standard model, as well as two premium metal variants: Lunar Silver and Genesis Grey.
✨ Features of Jade Plus
🖥️ Improved Display: Jade Plus has a 66% bigger and 25% brighter screen, making verifying transactions, scanning QR codes, and managing your bitcoin easier and more enjoyable.
🕹️ Improved Navigation: Two re-engineered buttons provide a smoother, more tactile, and intuitive experience, ensuring seamless navigation and control.
🛡️ Enhanced Durability: Built with reinforced materials, Jade Plus is designed to withstand the rigorous demands of everyday use, while the premium metal versions add even more protection for those looking to hodl long-term.
⚡ Upgraded Power and Performance: Thanks to the new ESP32-S3 chipset, Jade Plus delivers faster, smoother, and more reliable performance. Its enhanced camera also enables ultra-fast QR code scanning for seamless transactions and secure sign-ins.
🔓 Unparalleled Open-Source Security and Transparency
• Blind Oracle PIN Protection: Harnessing advanced end-to-end encryption, an innovative PIN security system splits the secrets needed to access your wallet between your unique PIN, the Jade Plus device, and a remote blind oracle server that never sees or stores your data. Even if your device is physically compromised, your bitcoin remains secure.
• Genuine Check: When pairing your Jade Plus with Green, Green verifies that the Jade was produced by Blockstream, helping thwart evil-maid attacks.
• Secure Boot and Anti-Exfil: Secure Boot makes sure only signed Blockstream software runs on your Jade, keeping your encrypted recovery phrase safe. Anti-Exfil adds another layer of security by forcing the device to include random data in signatures, preventing attackers from slowly extracting your private keys.
• Air-Gapped Security Workflows: With SD card support, a built-in battery, and a color camera, Jade Plus enables fully air-gapped operations. Sign transactions, scan QR codes, and update firmware completely offline, ensuring your private keys remain isolated from online threats.
🔗 Seamless Connectivity for Every Workflow
• USB and Bluetooth Support: Connect Jade Plus to desktop or mobile with ease, ensuring a seamless experience for every transaction.
• Camera Unlock: Unlock your Jade using SeedQR or QR PIN Unlock through the built-in color camera.
• Compatible with Leading Wallets: Jade Plus integrates with popular Bitcoin wallets such as Blockstream Green, Sparrow, Specter, and Bitcoin Core, making it easy to use across a variety of platforms.
• Blockstream Green Integration: Easily pair Jade Plus with Blockstream Green to purchase bitcoin and store it directly on your device, streamlining the entire process.

Silent Payments let you share one static address while every payment lands somewhere new and unlinkable. Making that work for multiparty wallets is a harder problem.
@olkurbatov of @blksresearch takes it on at @btcplusplus Seoul, November 5-6. 🇰🇷

Giving an app access to Core Lightning need not mean handing it unrestricted control.
A rune can carry restrictions on methods, time or peer identity. More restrictions can be appended before sharing it; removing existing restrictions makes it invalid.
There is a subtle resource boundary: derived runes retain the same ID and compete for the parent's rate limit. Plan delegation with that shared budget in mind. Keep the broader original private; restricting a copy does not narrow the original's powers.

In a Simplicity contract, subtraction needs a question beyond “what is the result?”
The official allowance example uses subtract_64, which returns a borrow flag alongside the difference. The contract explicitly asserts that the flag is false before relying on that difference.
Simplicity has no exceptions to catch here. Correct arithmetic handling belongs in the contract's conditions. A returned number alone is not evidence that the economic calculation stayed within its intended range.

Holding an issued asset on Liquid does not mean you have what is needed to pay its transaction fee.
Liquid currently accepts L-BTC for fees, including transactions sending another asset. Fees are represented by explicit, unblinded fee outputs.
That creates a practical wallet requirement: account for fee funding as well as the asset being transferred. If a service sponsors fees, that changes who supplies the L-BTC; it does not turn the issued asset into the network's fee currency.

A Jade can be powered on without its wallet being ready for your connection.
The get_version_info RPC reports wallet state and JADE_INTERFACE. The documentation says that while one interface holds the unlocked wallet, another cannot use it. Listed interface values include QR, SERIAL and BLE.
For integration debugging, inspect that state before treating a second connection as a signing failure. A READY response describes interface availability; it does not approve the transaction you intend to sign.

"Hardware wallets" made sense when Bitcoin was niche. Now Foundation, Keystone, Coldcard, and Ledger have all been compromised. Some point to SeedSigner as the answer. Stateless, air gapped, QR in, QR out, keys only in RAM. But you don't need to build one at Micro Center. Take an old ThinkPad, rip out the Wi-Fi card, unplug the Ethernet. Same air gap, and a machine security researchers have audited for decades instead of a bootloader nobody's ever touched.
The missing piece is air gapped signing software simple enough for an everyday Bitcoiner.

SHRINCS and SHRIMPS: Bitcoin Post-Quantum Solutions Proposals.
Bitcoin is the only network with first post-quantum transactions on a live network.
In March 2026, Blockstream Research deployed SHRINCS (a compact post-quantum signature scheme) on Liquid mainnet.
Five real transactions were broadcast and confirmed, marking the first post-quantum-signed transactions on a production Bitcoin sidechain.
Also in March 2026 proposed by Blockstream cryptographer Jonas Nick, SHRIMPS is designed for the hardware wallet lifecycle: what happens when your current device breaks, or when you want to upgrade to a newer generation. Up to 1,024 devices loaded from the same backup can sign independently, with 2.5 KB signatures — still 3x smaller than NIST's hash-based standard (SLH-DSA). If you ever expect to replace a hardware wallet, SHRIMPS is the scheme designed with that transition in mind.
A path to Bitcoin mainnet. Blockstream Research is exploring the rationale for OP_SHRINCSVERIFY, a proposed opcode concept that would bring hash-based post-quantum signature verification directly to Bitcoin Script. The work is still at the open-questions stage, not a finalized BIP. If a future version is proposed and adopted, holders could protect their bitcoin with quantum-resistant signatures one address at a time, without waiting for a full network migration.

We doubled the Indra swap limit to 500K Sats. 🚀
Keep in mind that since Indra remains in open beta you might still experience occasional routing failures. If your payment fails please submit a support ticket so we can investigate the issue.
We appreciate your feedback. 🙏

So, what actually happened with the Liquid hack? 🤔
I asked @Excellion (Jan3, and a board member on the Liquid board) for the TLDR on The Starting Block in Lugano 👇
"A white hat, more grey hat hacker hacked the Federation wallet, took a number of coins out, returned some and withheld about 600 BTC."
- The negotiation played out in public, on OP_RETURN
- Peg-outs are back and he says @Liquid_BTC is running normally
- His take on the cause: "It's the normal of AI attacks. It hit Bitcoin first, then it hit Lightning, then it hit Liquid."

It's been a long time coming. Coin selection is now in the Blockstream app on iOS, Android and desktop.
Choose exactly which coins each payment spends. Keep coins from different sources apart, combine small ones when fees are low, and decide what each transaction reveals.

Your bitcoin, your choice of coins.
Keep your payments more private and your fees lower, now on every device.

Post-quantum signatures have to work for low-power hardware wallets, miners, Lightning nodes and every node verifying blocks.

A mainnet-initialized Jade can still be used for a temporary testnet session.
The documented Temporary Signer flow bypasses the PIN-saved wallet and asks for the network each time. The saved wallet's network choice remains tied to its initialization; changing that saved setup to testnet requires a factory reset.
For practice, use a separate test recovery phrase. Do not reset a funded setup just to experiment, and check the companion app's testnet setting before assuming the option is missing.

The words are the last step of Jade's recovery-phrase generation.
Blockstream documents an entropy accumulator with a 32-byte state. SHA512 mixes the previous state with entropy inputs; one half of the result becomes the new state, while the other supplies entropy to the BIP39 phrase-generation function.
The mechanism matters more than counting sensors. This describes the documented design, not an independent measurement of entropy quality or a promise that a device can never fail.
