I don't think any nation or empire has been able to plan cities better than Greeks/Romans. They held everything to a high standard, from design to materials to labor, they never compromised.

BlueChip. Built in America. America made the first electronic computer to win a war. Now we depend on our greatest adversaries to build the computers that run our economy and defend our nation. Today, we bring it home.

I spend a lot of time, perhaps too much, thinking about the lost architecture of Britain. Crystal Palace was the most tremendous loss of the modern era, yet it's rare to see any pictures of it. When built in 1851, it was the largest building in the world and three times the size of St Paul's Cathedral. What's more, that immense ironwork and 293,000 glass panels went up in just 190 days for the World's Fair. Almost 1 million square feet of glass. An extraordinary feat. It was razed in a fire in the 1930s and never rebuilt.

imagine an Amazon competitor that is: 1) agent first - built for personal agents 2) america first - sells only products from usa might actually be a huge market for this.
Maybe we should start a competitor to Amazon 🤔

A Farm Bureau president in Floydada, Texas put it to Nate Sheets this way: "Even if you can get us back to 20 cents of revenue, Monsanto's going to come in and raise the price of their seed, or John Deere's going to raise the price of their equipment back up to 19 cents, and they're just going to come in and sweep that." Sheets runs Honey Rock Ranch, stocker cattle, and he built Nature Nate's Honey. He is running for Texas Agriculture Commissioner and won the March primary over the incumbent, Sid Miller. His read on the cattle business: producers fight all year for the revenue side, and the input side takes what they win. He told of a fifth generation rice farmer in Beaumont who sold his crop for 40 percent less than it cost him to make it, now carrying millions in debt on ground his family has worked for five generations, and who will be the last generation on it. Texas lost 17,700 farms and ranches between 2017 and 2022, about 68 a week, per the USDA Census of Agriculture. Two of the four packers that kill American fed cattle are Brazilian-owned: JBS USA and National Beef. @LonesomeLands @jimmundorf

In 1978 boomers became the majority voting bloc in the country. The first 18 year olds to be able to vote. They held this title until 2016. They were the majority in the house until last year, and the majority of the senate until 2023. In that time they have radically changed the demographics of America by supporting immigration policies. They were the first generation to embrace no fault divorce and half of them broke their children’s homes. One third of my generation was aborted. They created a legal and corporate system hostile to their sons. But the worst thing they did is destroy the economy. They were handed one of the most prosperous economies the world has ever seen, and they created untold levels of debt. The modest expansions in gdp are overshadowed by the ballooning debt. Their social programs were all paid for by the taxes of their children and grand children. 50x fold increase in debt, 60x increase in unfunded liabilities, 30x increase in interest payments which now exceeds national defense. Less than a 1/3 of boomers plan to leave an inheritance. The belief that the young should sacrifice even a dime more to pay for their retirements is absurd. But hey, at least they’re apologetic and conciliatory about it.

Anduril is building America's largest shipyard since WWII. This space needs bold investment and decisive action. In the 1790s, Baltimoore clippers were the fastest and most advanced sailing ships of their time. King George III didn't stand a chance. Time to run the same play.
Anduril is investing $3.7B into Arsenal-2. The next great American Shipyard.

New York had to take 3 years and write 4,007 pages just to get through federal environmental review to do its own congestion pricing. But if the new permitting reform bill passed, this ludicrous, anti-environmental outcome would be history. The congestion pricing NEPA review was so ridiculous because any opponent (like New Jersey) can sue and say you should've considered some extra thing. If a judge agrees with them, the project stops. But under the new bill, lawsuits can only stop a project for substantive harms, not for writing 4,007 pages instead of 4,025 pages. Thanks to work by @SenWhitehouse, @SenatorHeinrich and others, America can be liberated from the anti-environmental consequences of our environmental laws.
Remember those giant binders that blocked congestion pricing? BAAJA fixes that - The bill would force agencies to finalize environmental assessments in one year. - If the highway department dragged its feet like it did under Trump 1.0 NYC could sue them and get a court to compel action. - The review would also be shorter: BAAJA gets rid of unnecessary alternatives analysis and the need for litigation proofing. - If New Jersey (or anybody else) sued the NEPA review they wouldn't be able to delay or block congestion pricing. - DOT would be barred from revoking any approval for congestion pricing & NYC could take legal action if they tried nitter.gq/AidanRMackenzie/status…

One funny thing about the environmentalist groups who don’t like permitting reform is that, well, of course you don’t like it. You’re the people who abuse NEPA and cause the problems the bill is trying to solve. Drunk drivers don’t like bills cracking down on drunk driving either

What I'm getting from this is we need forestry reform that 1. A long term plan for the growth of the forestry industry 2. Allows logging of forests in a less ecologically destructive way than clear cutting 3. Allows locally cut lumber to be sold to neighbors(deregulation of market) 4. More rural people living in highly forested regions 5. City dwellers not being able to vote on issues they simply don't understand Did I miss anything?
Indiana-based TimberKutterPatriot, a 5th generation logger, talks about the state of the industry. Anyone on here got experience with this?

Prosecutors in York County have floated a plea offer that would allow a comic-book artist charged with striking a Maine Wire reporter in the head with a skateboard to avoid a conviction if he completes a year of conditions. Those conditions include a written letter of apology and a reflection on press freedom. Read more: themainewire.com/2026/09/dea…

President Trump just sat down with NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani to talk real solutions on affordable housing, including advancing the long stalled Sunnyside Yards project that could deliver thousands of new homes and tens of thousands of jobs. Different parties, different styles, same basic goal: get housing built. That’s what working together looks like. nydailynews.com Governor Janet Mills should take note. Maine families are getting crushed by housing costs too. Instead of constant courtroom theater with Washington, try sitting down and actually delivering results. New York’s mayor just showed how it’s done. @GovJanetMills

In 2024, Mississippi's fourth graders outscored Maine's on the Nation's Report Card reading test. Mississippi: 219 Maine: 210 National average: 214 Mississippi above the nation. Maine below it. This is not a rounding error! On the 2024 reading test, only TWO states in the entire country scored lower than Maine. Maine used to be near the top. In 1998 our fourth graders averaged 225. Today it is 210, the lowest in a generation. Mississippi went the other way. Its fourth graders posted the largest reading gains in the nation over the last decade, climbing from 49th to 9th. The poorest state in America passed Maine on reading! Same test. Same scale. Mississippi up, Maine down. The difference is NOT money and it is NOT demographics. It is what each state decided to do about how children are taught to read. Maine's kids are capable of reading at grade level. Mississippi just proved it is possible from a much harder starting point. Where do we start? Education freedom. Make education accountable to families again! leadmaine.com/issue/educatio…
