🇬🇧 After 28 YEARS and 30,000 miles, Karl Bushby has finally made it HOME. The British adventurer has returned to Hull, England, after setting off from Chile nearly 3 decades ago on an extraordinary journey around the world on foot. And the welcome was unforgettable. “There has never been quite a welcome home like this, I'm sure,” Bushby told the crowds gathered to celebrate his return. A journey spanning continents, borders and generations has finally come full circle. He left home with a seemingly impossible dream, 28 years later, he walked back into his hometown. What an extraordinary achievement!!!! Writer: Samuel

Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5: hackertube.org/ - Excellent recs without any logins (state is kept in local browser session) - Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads - Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version - HackerTube Longs ✊ A bit more on the process: I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing. Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.

Our second product is called Blindsight and it will, as the name suggests, enable even those who are completely blind or have never seen to see. It is ready from an engineering standpoint. Just waiting on regulatory approval.
Neuralink’s first product is called Telepathy. It enables high-speed communication with computers or humans simply by thinking. Output bandwidth will vastly exceed the fastest human speech or typing in a few years. Read that sentence again.

The Binance hacker might have just executed one of the most brilliant moves in crypto. First, Tether froze $1.5 billion worth of USDT. Then Circle followed by freezing another $800 million in USDC. At that point, it seemed like the hacker’s funds were completely trapped. But apparently, he had already thought several steps ahead. Rather than keeping the stolen USDT in a wallet, he allegedly deposited it into Aave and used it as collateral to borrow ETH. Then he walked away. And this is where things get really interesting. Tether can freeze the USDT sitting in that wallet. But it can’t freeze the ETH that was already borrowed. So now, Aave is left with frozen collateral, while the hacker is holding liquid ETH. And unless the protocol finds a way to recover those funds, he might not even have to repay the loan. Two companies froze billions of dollars in seconds. Yet someone who understood how DeFi works may have found a way to bypass both restrictions. Pretty wild when you think about it.

ATTACKERS REPORTEDLY EXPLOITED ETHEREUM’S EIP-7702 TO DRAIN BINANCE WALLETS On-chain analysis suggests attackers obtained signed authorizations allowing them to install malicious code on Binance-linked wallets without directly accessing their private keys. The attackers then used a function called “sweep” to transfer ETH and dozens of tokens into an attacker-controlled wallet. The same delegated permissions were reportedly used to move another $780 million in USDC from a separate Binance hot wallet. The attacker’s transaction relayer was funded through Tornado Cash, while nearly 195,460 ETH was subsequently transferred to a newly created wallet. How the attackers obtained the authorizations remains unknown. Binance says user funds are safe and is investigating.
ok safe to say binance is pwned The biggest assets were approximately: • 1.615B USDT • 62.6M RLUSD • 29,934 wBETH • 11,372 XAUt • 6.19M UNI • 198.4M ENA • 7.175T PEPE • 27.8M USD1 • 2.26M LINK • 127,853 AAVE about $2.5B at the explorer’s prices. 1. The attacker deployed a delegate contract, 0x63e842b0...73e9c6fAe, from the relayer at 15:59 UTC. 2. About four hours later, the relayer submitted an EIP-7702 authorization transaction That installed the malicious 7702 delegate code on Binance 14. 3. The relayer then made a call to Binance 14, executing the delegate code, and transferring Binance 14’s ETH and token balances. 4. The calldata is labeled sweep(address, address[]). The second argument is a list of recognizable token-contract addresses plus the zero-address (eth). 5. The same relayer later used the same delegate to move 780M USDC from Binance Hot Wallet 34 into the same pool • The relayer 0x7C... was funded by three Tornado Cash 0.1 ETH withdrawals over the prior two days. • The same pool also received 28,005.6 ETH from Binance 16 24 seconds after the main sweep. • The pool then forwarded 195,460 ETH to a fresh, unlabeled EOA • That EOA has only one transaction and currently holds the 195,460 ETH. What's a bit unclear is why the relayer was needed in the first place. If they had the private keys to the Binance wallets, they could have just sent the assets out in an atomic bundle without needing a relayer at all. So it seems likely that they didn't have the private keys and instead just had the 7702 auth signatures, which must have been phished somehow. I think we can go ahead and assume DPRK.

User funds are safe! It does look like a hack on Binance. Appreciate the quick freeze from Tether (~$971m) and Circle (~$823m). I don't manage Binance (.com) anymore, but as a shareholder, I expect all user funds will be fully covered.

Wild idea. The UK does not have any AI labs creating models. Who would be up for banding together in the UK to see if we can create a open community model 🤷‍♂️ Maybe it will be trash but I for one would love to learn and try. Dm me if you are game 💪🏻

The US is moving because senators are taking the time to learn how Bitcoin actually works. The UK can close that gap, and it starts with education. Thanks for the platform here @BitcoinColl 🇬🇧 Proud to be doing this work with @bitcoinpolicy on both sides of the Atlantic. Worth a watch, @Joeyg_poh 👇
Why is the UK so far behind on Bitcoin? US senators are learning about Bitcoin through the work of @bitcoinpolicy and @xapobankapp. In the UK, the appetite to learn isn’t there yet. Full fireside with @Joeyg_poh and @Jcastweet now live 👇

Peg operations are resuming for @Liquid_BTC. The external security audit is complete and looks good. Additional hardening measures are also done. Liquid users are now able to peg-out via @side_swap and @AquaBitcoin. The ~600 BTC shortfall will be added to the Federation wallet in the coming days. Everything is almost back to normal! 🙏🏻🌊
