I mention it only because I wonder if it would change your view of the agentic capabilities of codex. I learned about it here: youtu.be/Gr41tYOzE20?si=YNyV…

@OpenAIDevs There's a bug in the OpenAI API playground. Clicking the download icon after creating text-to-speech outputs an HTML file with a .mp3 extension that's 4.2kb in size rather than the typical bare minimum 50kb in size. There is no audio. This popped up about a week ago and it's continued to persist.

It's not at all clear cut, but there's been some view that the stimulants themselves may contribute to a more well-known link between ADHD and Parkinson's disease. But complicating things is the same sort of issue you highlighted earlier with your survival advantage angle: they may actually have some sparing effect if they rescue you from illicit drug use. The animal model for Parkinson's disease was discovered as a result of synthesis-gone-wrong for street stimulants.

What gets me is this popularly wrong idea that, if you eat a certain diet, you can become immune to UV regardless of the geographic distribution of your ancestors. Straight up no true scotsman fallacy:

As a fan of salmon, you have to ask yourself: have you really considered the triglyceride lowering benefits of up to 20 to 30 grams of salmon oil per day?
