Huge problem: when a client's AI-search visibility is not translating into enough demos. The default reaction: "GEO isn't working." Or worse, "We tried GEO but it's just not worth it." There's three bigger questions to answer here: 1. What's the real reason why inbound demand is down? Blaming GEO is a convenient scapegoat. 2. If you stop investing in SEO/GEO, what are you going to do instead to grow the business? 3. Plenty of other channels do not drive attributable demo requests. Would you also say those programs are not worth it? I know plenty of companies that are running ads for "visibility" (not direct response conversions) yet they continue investing in those programs because they believe it reaches the correct ICP and influences sales. I've heard some marketers say "more ads" is the antidote for GEO. This is a weird argument.

I don’t think my goal in life is to have a LinkedIn posting cadence.

I’m studying French and I find the concept of sentence description quite interesting. I think my favorite is the French’s use of the verb to have “avoir”, which is “ai” when conjugated from the first person. My most endearing sentence is using “avoir” when you ask for help.

To say “I need” in French, you say “J’ai besoin”, which in English translates to “I have a need” (of something/someone). Now to profess affection to someone and tell them “I need you”. In French, it’s goes deeper. You tell them: “J’ai besoin de toi.”

In English that translates to “I have a need of you.” In my literal experience, I’d think of it as saying “needing you is not enough, my entire soul desires to ‘have’ you because I don’t know what it’ll do if it doesn’t get it .” 😅😅

The trains in London (heck, across the UK) are filled with some of the best copy I’ve seen. Oh, such a beaut. 🫶🏽🫶🏽
The only marketing skill that's going to remain is copywriting. Plan accordingly.

Hot take (that will make everyone fight): If you are young and ambitious, you are better off being in ANY city in America vs 99% of Europe. Sure London beats Columbus Ohio. But outside of like 4 cities in Europe, any mid sized city in the USA has a better chance of making you rich

Interesting choice of words. Perhaps I’ll write a substack on something I’m calling “Execution slop: the degradation of employee creativity and numbness of thinking.”
Today we’re laying off a large part of the Airtable team. This is not a reflection of their work but a reflection of our deep belief that small teams ship more and better. For Airtable, better is about to look like: - A new Core team shipping your top requests monthly (already 30+ shipped in 3 weeks) - Upgraded Omni, Airtable Canvas, a stronger MCP, and BYO agents, coming soon - New Performance and Infra teams focusing on speeding up bases and increasing limits on records, fields, and syncs To everyone leaving: thank you. If you’re hiring, these are excellent people and worth a call.

So the role “director of digital marketing” is really just a glorified project manager? They manage down: agencies, contractors and junior marketers who are doing all the execution work (including reporting). They manage up: VP / CMO and other cross functional leaders. Basically just a shit load of meetings and talking. Can someone enlighten me? Am I wrong?
