O man, if it was a spell I’m so grateful for the magical blessing 🙏✨ but in all seriousness I’m glad to hear you were able to set strong boundaries as well! It feels GOOD
(3/3) GDC was notably more energizing/refreshing for me this year with this added emphasis on self care. I had some FOMO for the night life, but I still got SO much out of the event without that element. I still feel like I ’got my money’s worth’. 10/10 I recommend this approach.
(2/3) I even scheduled a vacation right after GDC so I had time to recoup & rest incase I ended up getting sick or needing time to recalibrate after the event. Shockingly, I didn’t get sick and I didn’t really need time to recalibrate.
(1/3) I saw a lot of GDC 2024 advice about rest/health & I gave it a go: I took mid-day siestas either in the park or in my room, I wore a mask as much as possible & washed my hands or used hand sani frequently, I didn’t drink or go to parties & I was in bed by 11pm each night
This year I broke the rules and put a selfie on my business card because last time the week after I went to GDC I had like 50 business cards on my desk and no idea which business card aligned with which person I spoke to :')
