Interesting that agencies aren't acknowledging they are refugees (or atleast asylum seekers) -yet refugee status is declaratory, not constitutive.

Exclusive Sources: Deputy Commander of UAE-Backed Rapid Support Militia Abdelrahim Dagalo Arrives in Kurmuk, Ethiopia, to Recruit Fighters and Orders Pursuit of Militants Who Fled Blue Nile Battles
Sudanese Echo | October 30, 2026
Exclusive sources have revealed to Sudanese Echo that Abdelrahim Hamdan Dagalo, deputy commander of the UAE-backed Rapid Support Militia (Janjaweed), has arrived in the Kurmuk area inside Ethiopian territory to recruit new fighters from the Nuer and Maban communities following recent battles in Sudan's Blue Nile region.
According to the sources, Dagalo also instructed the militia's military police to track down members who fled the recent fighting in Blue Nile, in an effort to bring them back into its ranks.
The reported developments follow advances by the Sudanese Armed Forces in Blue Nile State. On October 22, the SAF's 4th Infantry Division announced that it had recaptured the areas of Bakouri and Akleili following battles against opposing forces, reaffirming its commitment to securing the recaptured territory.

Of regional concern is the expansion of the Sudan conflict beyond its borders following drone strikes in the south-east, Blue Nile state, bordering South Sudan and Ethiopia, where SAF & SPLM-N clashed near Kurmuk on 19 October 2026 risking a regional war

Escalating conflict in Sudan’s Blue Nile State has triggered a massive displacement crisis, forcing thousands to flee intense fighting in Geisan and Kurmuk. Many families are pouring into Damazin and surrounding localities, while others are crossing borders into Ethiopia and South Sudan in a desperate search for safety.
Displaced families arriving at hastily established camps face dire conditions, trapped between severe shortages of food and medicine and the onset of heavy torrential rains. Without proper shelter or mosquito nets, parents are struggling to shield children under makeshift tarpaulins, raising urgent alarms over rapidly spreading outbreaks of rain-driven diseases like malaria and dengue fever.
Local emergency response groups warn that the humanitarian catastrophe is outpacing current aid capacity. As military operations intensify and Blue Nile shifts into a central axis of the broader Sudan conflict, thousands of vulnerable civilians remain caught in a deadly cycle of displacement, disease, and deprivation.

On 10 Oct 2026, Egypt struck artisanal gold mining sites near a disputed border between Sudan & Egypt, killing at least 72 artisanal gold miners & on 19 Oct, a the SAF attacked a market in Abyei, killing at least 220 persons and injuring 27 others

🚨 More than 220 people were killed in Monday's drone strike on a market in Abyei, a territory on the border claimed by both Sudan and South Sudan, Abyei's caretaker Information Minister Yohana Akol told Eye Radio. The dead were buried in two mass graves. Earlier Tuesday, Akol had told the AP at least 153 had been killed.
The strike hit a fuel depot at Amiet market, sparking a fire that was still burning Tuesday. Doctors Without Borders said it had received over 20 wounded, including burn patients.
Akol blamed Sudan's army, which did not respond.
Ssources told Radio Tamazuj that the Rapid Support Forces used the market to buy fuel for its troops, and that the section where fuel was sold was targeted. The market serves Ngok Dinka and Misseriya traders as well as people displaced by Sudan's war, and most of the dead were civilian traders, Radio Tamazuj reported. The Misseriya, an Arab herding tribe, have been a key source of RSF fighters, according to Sudan Tribune.
South Sudan summoned Sudan's ambassador in Juba to "convey its strong protest," urging Sudan to "refrain from actions that endanger civilian lives and property."

A big win for International Refugee Law once again as the Court upholds the principle of non-refoulment & quashes the directive by the Kenyan Government that had imposed a blanket ban on registration of refugees from Ethiopia and Eritrea..
