The Democratic 2029 project, for me, should look something like this:
- Statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.
- Fix SCOTUS: wait for Alito and Thomas to retire or die, otherwise add four justices, although preferably the former
- A general amnesty for immigrants who have lived in the U.S. for many years, have family ties, are part of the workforce, etc.
- Use the DOJ to prosecute the entire Trump administration
- Repeal the Big Beautiful Bill
- Codify abortion rights
- Medicare for All
- Ban partisan gerrymandering and strengthen the VRA through major reform
- Deep tax reform, including wealth and land taxes
- Abolish ICE and create a new immigration and customs service
- A $15 minimum wage
- Support Ukraine
- Arms embargo on Israel and push for a two-state solution
- Strengthen relations with Europe and promote democracy in Latin America
Things the next Democratic Congress must do:
- Stop the war in Iran.
- End the tariffs.
- Subpoena every White House staffer and Trump associate.
- Launch an investigation into Elon Musk.
- Investigate corruption involving the entire Trump family.
- Launch an investigation into ICE.
- Impeach Pete Hegseth, RFK Jr. and Mullin.
