THREAD: Wizkid, Industry Shifts and Why He’s Been the Only One Seeing the Bigger Picture for 16 Years
1/
Very few artists truly understand the deeper mechanics of this industry its cycles, politics, and global shifts.
But for 16 years,
You’ll never see FC making Wiz’s achievements about other artists. We make sure to hype and trend every single achievement, no matter how small, because we know how to celebrate our own without taking the spotlight away from him.

No other Afrobeats artist could’ve delivered the way Wizkid did on Beyoncé’s Brown Skin Girl.🔥
Be like say dem make that beat specifically for Wizkid… 🐐🇳🇬❤️

Burna Boy supporters and inferiority complex are like conjoined twins. All these free gigs Burna Boy is doing are nothing but a strategy for exposure. He is still far less exposed globally than Wizkid, so he needs every bit of attention he can get.
I can’t lie, deep down, I love it because it proves one thing, they know he’s the biggest. All this does is keep him trending. They can’t stop talking about him, and that’s exactly why his name will never leave the conversation.
Every conversation about Nigerian artistes revolves around Wizkid.
If a Nigerian artiste drink water drop cup, Wizkid must do the same
If a Nigerian artiste shlt for bush, Nigerians will ask why didn’t Wizkid do the same
If Nigeria is crumbling, why is Wizkid is not there to savw it
Wizkid this, Wizkid that blah blah blah

As long as you keep mentioning Wiz in every achievement or move other artists make, he’ll remain above the rest. You call it trolling, but it’s really an admission of how influential he is. His impact is so massive you can’t celebrate others without bringing him up.
If,in 2026, they still don’t understand that this is who he is, then they can keep giving themselves headaches over it.There are more important things to worry about.Wiz doesn’t owe anyone a change in personality,so why can’t they just let him be who he is and respect him for it?
Y’all need to make peace with the fact Wizkid might not like attending Award ceremonies.
Wizkid has not attended any Award ceremony since his appearance at The Headies Awards in 2021 and even that event, Headies Organizers had to send a Private Jet to pick him up in Ghana.
He has won 6 MOBO Awards and he has never received the award in person on stage, he wasn’t present the night he was the most prestigious music award “Grammy”, he wasn’t present when he won VMA, AMA, SoulTrain, NAACP Awards.
Made In Lagos and Essence won over 20 Awards and he was never present to receive any of these Awards in person.
It’s not gimmick, that’s who he is or who he has become, make peace with it and leave him alone.
To some extent, Lamine not winning is a good thing. He needs to lock in if he wants to win it. He’s only 19 and is already putting up incredible numbers this season. All he needs to do is stay focused, keep improving, and bring that Champions League trophy back to the Camp Nou.
