To begin this new phase (OP), posting Césaire's incredible work, maybe not a poem at all, but having much to do with communist poetics. I sometimes think of "The Great Camouflage" as condensing Aimé's "Notebook" and "Discourse" into a single work—with her own political ecology.

DON'T: read another weepy conversation w/ Michael Walzer where he belatedly admits to being wrong while also doubling down on being wrong
DO: Read this piece by me & @shaabiranks from 2023 where we critique Walzer/Just War Theory & the law of war re: Gaza

Back when Tongo was in the Bay I saw him read many times. This was 1 I loved to hear. Many great lines & moments—"The cop in the picket line is a hard working rookie." "'I've ruined the soup again,' / thought the judge" On the page he uses layout to present these as many voices

🚨 BREAKING: Half a million Palestinians in Gaza will lose monthly food assistance as funding shortages force major World Food Programme cuts ahead of winter, ABC News Australia reports.
➤ WFP is reducing its monthly reach from 1.6 million people to 1.1 million. Families receiving two food parcels will now get one, and flour bags will shrink.
➤ Daily hot meals have fallen from 250,000 to 150,000. Some families in hard-to-reach areas will receive meals every other day instead of daily. Cash assistance for 75,000 families is being cut by 40%.
➤ WFP’s Carl Skau said traditional donors, including the U.S. and Europe, have reduced funding. “It’s not because the needs are down … it’s only due to the lack of funding,” Skau told ABC.
➤ Around 1.4 million people face crisis-level hunger or worse, including 200,000 in emergency conditions. WFP says it urgently needs $450 million for six months of operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

I call on all elected officials who have professed to care about accountability for Hind Rajab's murder and for other crimes against the Palestinian people to support our filing, pressure the DOJ to initiate an investigation/prosecution, and to pass the Justice for Hind Rajab Act
🇺🇸🚨 The #HindRajabFoundation has filed an urgent request with the U.S. Department of Justice, demanding the immediate investigation, arrest, and prosecution of Sean Glass, currently present in the United States. Glass commanded the Israeli unit implicated in Hind Rajab's murder. HRF's investigation places the 52nd Battalion—including Glass and his Vampire Empire Company—near her vehicle during the killing. Today, Glass walks free in the U.S.

I just signed this. It is not clear if the hotel workers' strike in Chicago will affect the American Studies conference or not, but there is nothing simpler than making a pledge ahead of time that we will not cross the picket line.

As Jasper urged Heidi to run, she gasped “I can’t, let me die.” I may have, too, if I was injured like this at 63.
With Jasper’s help she got to Palestinian rescuers. One put this Jewish mother on his back & carried her. I never want to hear “try being Jewish in Ramallah” again.

Please support non-cooperating defendant Maricela Rueda’s fundraiser by contributing if you can, and sharing widely! It’s her birthday tomorrow! 🙏🏻🖤

Mari's birthday is tomorrow. We need to raise $100,000 to get a strong legal team for her state case. She also recorded new poems to be shared:

Before organizing the raid on Harper’s Ferry Brown spent 3 years in Kansas trying to prevent it from becoming a slavery state. This is all the kind of thing that we need to be willing to do if we are to overcome fascism here and in Palestine.

When Trump raided John Bolton last year it was met w/ immediate outrage in the opinion pages of NYT, WSJ, WaPo, Atlantic & New Yorker. Since Rep Omar was raided Mon––and subsquently threatened w/ deportation––these same outlets have been silent. I wrote about this double standard
Unlike the raid on John Bolton, the targeting of Omar has elicited zero condemnation from NYT, WSJ, and Washington Post. theintercept.com/2026/10/15/…
