āme when i pull the door handle and it shattersā being the first words out of your mouth when this happens is killing me bro. it is insane what social media has done to the way that we speak
I think the misconception that nyc is a transient adult playground is what makes people ask questions like these. you have to remember that some people are actually from here, cost of living is the issue not people being close minded about uprooting their livesā¦
Why don't they just leave NYC? I'm not trying to be callous, but there's a whole wonderful world out there that's more affordable.

aside from the fact that lots of jobs are based in NYC... lots of people are from NYC! they deserve a place in the city they're from, if they want it. and THAT dynamic, native residents getting priced out, is happening in tons of less expensive cities across the country.

Some givers are childless and some takers are parents, but parents do like to perform as martyrs which obscures the more negative and entitled qualities they had before, during, and after their children become adults.
This!! I have good friends with kids!

A lot of married couples with kids just don't want to admit that they don't want to put in effort with their other relationships anymore so they justify it by villainizing childfree, single people. I know married couples who have a strong village bc they still put effort!

These are women that never really wanted female friends. They wanted placeholders until a man and kid came along. Now they want the single friends to be available just in case they need someone to vent to about their relationship.

It is very easy to spot the women that think being married to a man puts them on a pedestal above unmarried women.
Further proof the āvillageā will never go both ways lol
My friend wants to plan a couples, no-kids weekend getaway, splitting the cost of a large AirBNB, in January for her 30th birthday. I really do not love this idea (husband is mortified), neither to spend the money nor to get someone to take the toddler for 3 days. It would be a 2.5 hour drive away for us, too, so itās not like weāre close if something happens. I havenāt been away from him for even 1 night yet and he still just seems so young! It would be very hard to leave him for that long.
Am I just a party pooper who needs to get over it? Genuine question. Like I actually need advice here guys

This is why I argue the United States has the most powerful propaganda machine in the world. And frankly, I donāt think thereās another country that even comes close.
A perfect example is this Vietnamese immigrant family proudly announcing that theyāre voting Republican because they believe in freedom, democracy, and the need to defeat the evils of communism.
Letās examine the irony here.
First, communism is not a threat to the United States. The Democratic Party is not communist. Supporting universal healthcare, something virtually every other developed country provides, does not make someone a communist.
But Republicans have spent decades convincing Americans that any policy designed to help ordinary working people is somehow a step toward communism. Itās one of the oldest scare tactics in American politics, and remarkably, it still works.
Second, youāre celebrating freedom and democracy while supporting Donald Trump, a man who has repeatedly attacked democratic institutions, entertained the idea of a third presidential term, undermined Americaās international alliances, and dragged the country into a disastrous war with Iran.
This is the same man who promised to end Americaās endless wars.
And hereās the greatest irony of all.
Youāve been convinced that voting Republican means defending freedom from communism, when the far more immediate threat to American democracy comes from politicians who believe the Constitution should only apply when itās convenient for them.
Thatās what makes American propaganda so extraordinarily effective. It convinces ordinary people to fear an imaginary communist takeover while ignoring the very real erosion of democratic institutions happening right in front of their eyes.
And the people who have been most successfully manipulated are often the ones most convinced theyāre thinking for themselves.
