🚜 Komatsu Mini Excavator Hydraulic Mystery (Deep Dive)
OP bought a Komatsu PC27R-8 mini ex off marketplace. Looked clean, started fine… but hydraulics were a mess.
Here’s the full story, what was wrong, and how to fix a similar nightmare 👇
1. The Symptoms
– Engine starts and runs, but hydraulics are super weak
– All functions move, but very slowly
– Travel motors won’t move the machine on the ground
– New hydraulic pump installed by previous owner, “worked for 1 hour,” then the machine quit moving and sat for 2 years
With a gauge on the main pump outlet, pressure was only ~2000 psi vs >5000 psi spec. Fluid heated up fast, pump stayed cool, and there was a constant whooshing/bypassing sound at the main control valve.

If you hear your loader hydraulics squeal or whine at the end of a lift, the pump is pushing against the relief valve. Let off the lever once the cylinder bottoms out. Holding it there turns horsepower into heat, and hot oil thins out, so the loader gets slow and the seals wear faster. On cold mornings, give the oil a few minutes of light cycling before you dig in.

The original hydraulics business entailed micron-toleranced manufacturing to generate extreme pressures (4,000 psi).
We layered high-quality aerospace manufacturing directly on top of these foundational capabilities.
Today, @DynamaticTech is a global sole-supplier of complex structural assemblies for the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers.

Why is this truck going UP just to get its load DOWN? 😳🚛🌾
It's all about hydraulics and gravity!
A powerful hydraulic system raises the truck bed or trailer, allowing tonnes of grain to slide out through the rear. No complicated conveyor system needed.
It's a clever way to make bulk unloading faster and simpler, especially where farm infrastructure is limited.
But there's a catch: lifting a loaded vehicle changes its centre of gravity, making firm, level ground and proper safety procedures essential.
Simple physics. Serious engineering.

Germany has its 𝘔𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 companies, hidden mid-sized champions that dominate global markets.
India is coming, and we're proud to be a world leader in two critical engineering niches: hydraulic pumps for off-road vehicles and flap-track-beam mechanisms for commercial jets.
An all-time record at @DynamaticTech. August output reached 100,000 hydraulic gear pump units (138,169 total pumps including Double and Treble models). 𝗔𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝘂𝗻-𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝟭.𝟲𝗠+ 𝗽𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘀, 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱'𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗿.

Heat is detrimental to hydraulic fluid and may account as many component failures as "regular" contamination like dirt, water and air. bit.ly/3vPyv2a

Forty years completed at @DynamaticTech.
Times were very different when I started working. Capital was scarce in pre-liberalisation India, markets were under-developed, and OEMs held monopolistic buying power over small suppliers.
Day-to-day survival for a small tractor-parts maker was tough. That’s why we ventured deep into India’s rural hinterland—to build our own independent aftermarket for hydraulic pumps, directly at the grassroots.

Forty years on, this photograph brings back memories of field-work with @UTobyM.
Toby and I travelled across India in this Maruti Gypsy to build our hydraulic pumps dealer network. He was 20; I was 32. Toby drove every mile. There was no GPS, just paper maps of uncertain accuracy, determination, and the willingness to discover what lay beyond the next turn. Sometimes, we ran out of road, but we kept on driving...
Every dealer visit was an opportunity to listen, understand customers’ needs, and earn trust. Challenges were converted into R&D opportunities - Field to Lab to Product.
From rural roads to global aerospace supply chains, the journey reflects the enduring value of understanding customers, investing in people, and daring to build capabilities for the future.
Proud to have shared those early miles.

The most underrated productivity skill is being able to find what you already saved.
If you want to actually use your saved content, here's what helped me build a system:
1/ One place for everything - X, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube
2/ Tags applied the moment you save
3/ Nested folders by topic
4/ Notes on why you saved it
5/ Smart reminders to return
6/ Search that actually works
7/ Sync to Notion or Sheets
Built this once. Saved posts stopped disappearing.

A small milestone worth sharing: Savebase just crossed 100 users! 🎉
Most of you know me for hydraulic engineering, but I also enjoy building things beyond hydraulics.
What started as a side project to solve my own problem of saving and organising social media content is now being used by 100+ people, including paying customers!
It might be a small number, but seeing strangers find value in something I created feels incredible.
Still a long way to go, but it's exciting to see a personal project gaining traction. 🚀

launching Savebase (yes, I built it because I lost hundreds of saved posts)
a few things I learned about saving content online that might help others:
1) saving something is not the same as keeping it
most people bookmark and never return. the save feels productive. the loss is invisible.
2) your saves need to connect back to you when you need them
scattered across X, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube with no way in, they're just gone.
3) one library beats perfect organization
you don't need a system. you need search. find it when you need it, not when you remember to look.
4) if your saves disappear into a feed, your thinking disappears with them
where you store ideas changes what you actually keep.
5) most people won't fix this until they lose something important
I did. that's why I built this.
I track saved posts across every platform and surface the ones worth keeping. So your ideas don't disappear.
The top features inside Savebase that actually bring saves back to life:
Saving content is how you lose information.
A few years ago, if you saved something useful, you'd write it down somewhere you'd actually find it.
Now you save it to Instagram. Or Reddit.
Or YouTube.
YOU have a save button.
THE PLATFORM has your saved posts.
You do not have access to YOUR saved posts.
You have no idea what you've collected, or where any of it went.
Saving something to find it later rarely works.
Building a system to find it always means you actually use what you saved.
save every post you find useful in your notes app...then run it through this workflow:
1. COLLECT
Pull saves from:
- X
- Instagram
- Reddit
- YouTube
- TikTok
- LinkedIn
2. ORGANIZE
- Nested folders
- Tags
- Post notes
3. FIND IT LATER
- Search by topic
- Smart reminders
- AI bulk tagging
4. CONNECT IDEAS
- Spot patterns across platforms
- Link related saves
- Build one library
