when mental health is already a challenge. Prior presidents used national parks to heal and help people. Now we want to build baseball parks on it? I recommend hikes -camping at national parks for my concussion, insomnia, and dysautonomia cases. Shame. apple.news/AdlTpli_wQ7mXI4o8…

🔥 A simple nasal spray may one day reverse brain ageing by switching off chronic neuroinflammation. ➡️ A new study shows a non-invasive nasal spray can reduce age-related brain inflammation (“neuroinflammaging”) and improve memory. ➡️ The therapy uses extracellular vesicles carrying microRNAs, which reach the brain directly via the nasal route and modulate inflammatory pathways. ➡️ It restores mitochondrial function and cognitive performance, with effects seen within weeks and lasting months in animal models. ➡️ This suggests brain ageing may be reversible, though human studies are still needed. isevjournals.onlinelibrary.w…

Solid reason to eat more nuts, @Costco stock up those Kirkland mixed nuts
I'm fascinated by Urolithin A. It's a compound that stimulates mitophagy (mitochondrial autophagy), helping clear out and replace damaged or dysfunctional mitochondria. Recent studies show that urolithin A improves endurance performance and even keeps immune cells "younger" with age. The data are early and emerging, but promising enough that I've started to supplement with it, as I discussed with @hubermanlab when I appeared on his podcast recently.

I’d love to hear one person say I’d rather increase risk on getting dementia or Alzheimer’s disease vs a shingles vaccine
We've seen the Shingles vaccine is linked with reduced risk of Alzheimer's and dementias in 4 large natural experiments. Today, the potential of high-dose flu vaccines vs standard dose for the same in a large retrospective age 65+ cohort [N>160,000). More pronounced in women (like Shingles vaccine) neurology.org/doi/pdf/10.121…

This is what happens when passionate clinicians dig deep to help patients. If healthcare was run more this way, we’d have more clinicians being able to help their patients. Sick care increases in 10 min visits.
I respectfully disagree. As a general pediatrician caring for a large neurodiverse population (ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, CAPD, concussion, anxiety), I’m seeing a very different reality over the last 5 years. 🧵1/14

Ok all the kids/adults wearing one #AirPod in an ear are doing serious #neyroplasticity harm. Auditory -spatial processing is being impaired. Don’t be surprised if you get startled easily @socrdoc I’m starting to look at this more in my patients

#youth #clubsports is a business understand that. That’s why year round play is important. But may not be best for the youth athlete and science supports it #LTAD
A massive new study on peak performance included 34,000 international top performers: Nobel laureates, renowned classical music composers, Olympic champs, and the world’s best chess players. It shows early specialization is a trap, and the road to greatness is long and varied.

Here comes a real test in beliefs vs science. Do you want to risk #shingles #dementia or take a #vaccine I lost a parent to dementia wasn’t an enjoyable process. You can ask other family members their experience I’m sure they’ll say the same 💉 washingtonpost.com/health/20…

It definitely does. Up to 70% inmates fall into this group. Not something people want to talk about
#TBI disproportionately affects certain marginalized groups. Let's work to lift ALL people up. Check out this blog to understand #traumaticbraininjury differences so we can achieve better patient outcomes! vernonwilliamsmd.com/News-Up…

Great work! I know it’s in mice but the mechanism makes sense. I suspected this in my mother when I saw the changes after #hysterectomy painfully watching it play out over 10 years. Hope this helps others

🧠New Care Consortium #Concussion Data: Compared to the no-exercise group, the early exercise group was 92% more probable to experience symptom recovery, 88% more probable to reach clinical recovery, & took a median of 2.4 & 3.2 days less to recover. The late exercise group relative to the no-exercise group was 57% less probable to reach symptom recovery m, 46% less probable to achieve clinical recovery, & took 5.3 days & 5.7 days more to recover. Exercise < 2 days post-concussion was associated with more probable and faster symptom and clinical recovery, and lower persisting post-concussion symptom prevalence. When considering our findings and existing literature, qualified clinicians may implement early exercise into their clinical practice to provide therapeutic treatment and improve student-athlete recovery 👏 Great work @lblempke @eliz_teel @RobLynall @UMichConcussion @JDSchmitty @griz1 @Stefan_M_Duma et al – at Manhattan, NY
