In the runup to the election, I was part of a group of Jewish Democrats in Michigan who had to make a choice. Passions were running high, arguments ensued, but at the end of the day, we decided to support @AbdulElSayed The response on this platform was immediate, but in too many cases, it was filled with vile, Islamophobic responses. I was called a Nazi and (ironically), a Jew-hater. So instead of lashing out, I invite you to watch this two-minute video posted by @peterdaou After watching it if you can't at least understand that Abdul is a smart, considerate human and not a terrorist, then I can't help you. But I hope you are open-minded enough to see what we see. I'm glad this awful election is over, but I'm just as glad to embrace a better future with Abdul in the Senate. @MalloryMcMorrow @SenatorSlotkin @MIAttyGen @MariManoogian
I've been in politics for a quarter century. It's hard to express how staggering it is to see a conversation like this on corporate US media. The Morning Joe panel gobsmacked by the directness of @AbdulElSayed's points. (clip via @DropSiteNews)

.@PeteHegseth, cabinet secretaries shouldn't be wasting taxpayer dollars on campaign style videos. Kristi Noem learned that the hard way. This is about you: the incompetence you’ve displayed, the bad advice you’ve given to president, and your shameful and embarassing episodes from firing our top generals to texting war plans to reporters.

I want him investigated because he’s potentially laundered and embezzled $2 billion dollars in funds from the governments of Saudi Arabia and the UAE. I don’t want Stephen Miller investigated because he’s a racist ghoul who’s at the center of the Trump brain trust. I want him investigated because he’s a racist ghoul who has violated the due-process rights of millions of people and, potentially, directly violated court orders. I don’t want Pete Hegseth investigated because he’s a toxic psychopath who is unqualified to lead America’s military forces. Dear @WhiteHouse: Stop attacking democracy. You disrespect the American people by saying they voted in a crooked election. If you have evidence of alleged voter fraud, then have your puppet @AGToddBlanche try to prosecute. Otherwise take your authoritarian shit and shove it.

Europe built Wero so we wouldn't need Visa, Mastercard and PayPal… and now the Dutch bank ASN only lets you activate it if Google approves your Android phone. The app runs Google's Play Integrity check, so anyone on GrapheneOS or /e/OS is locked out. The bank's answer: Wero relies on the "standard security controls for regular operating systems". So the European payment system meant to get us out of US dependence gets Google as the gatekeeper… sovereignty with an asterisk

Ossoff: Abroad, American credibility and leadership are in decay, and the world is rearming for global conflict. And at our grave peril, humanity is fast forgetting the terrible lessons of two World Wars and the Holocaust. Meanwhile, the titans of Silicon Valley dig bunkers for themselves and warn that the artificial intelligence they're creating risks human extinction. And amidst these challenges of unprecedented consequence and complexity, though we rightly celebrate tonight's historic victory, the fact is we’ve been too long mired in a small and selfish politics, bought by big money, unmoored from fixed moral principles, and resigned to intractable division. In other words, the United States has been adrift in a gale. But, Georgia, we can and will reclaim control over our own destiny.

Chicken Soup for the Soul just sued Elon Musk's xAI. Its best witness is Grok. The complaint says Grok was asked if it learned from LibGen, a pirate library. Grok's alleged answer: "The people who trained me didn't hand-curate every single book, they basically vacuumed up whatever was out there." The complaint's opening is blunt. To catch up in the AI race, xAI needed computing power, "which xAI bought," and copyrighted books, "which xAI stole." Then it quotes Musk. On whether AI is trained on copyrighted material: "Yeah that's a huge lie… These AIs are all trained on copyrighted data. Obviously." On the lawsuits: "By the time these lawsuits are decided we'll have Digital God." When Jack Dorsey posted "delete all IP law," Musk replied: "I agree." It also points to a July 2026 Musk post about book scanning. He said he'd asked the team to preserve rare books and scan them "the hard way vs just cutting off the spine and scanning." The complaint's reading: xAI cuts the spines off other books and scans them. The stakes:
• 500M+ Chicken Soup books sold since 1993
• Grok claims about 600M monthly users
• xAI raised $20B in January, and SpaceX acquired it a month later Chicken Soup chose not to file a class action. It says class settlements resolve high-value claims for "pennies on the dollar." It wants a jury to set statutory damages for each book. Two other publishers filed the same suit the same day. Again, these are allegations from the Complaint.

We don’t need new AI regulations. We need to enforce the laws we already have. Unauthorized access, mass account creation, and unsupervised agents hitting other people’s systems without permission are already covered under existing computer fraud statutes. If the AI labs, platforms, and prosecutors keep treating this as a gray area or “just testing,” or worse normalize this then the backlash will be severe, and it will hit legitimate AI use hardest.
Let me get this straight. You unleashed a feral swarm of bots on someone else’s platform. You had them spawn accounts like cockroaches breeding in a warm dishwasher. You let it run unsupervised long enough that a real human had to trace it back to your doorstep. And when they finally knocked, your statement was “Ah yup. That was indeed me.” Ah. Yup. Golden retriever in the wreckage of a lamp energy. Man who just backed his truck through a Waffle House, rolled down the window, and said “my bad.” Read it again. “Similar platforms.” Plural. This wasn’t a slip, it was a tour. Somewhere right now a dozen other companies are opening this post and discovering they were also part of your “testing.” Congratulations to everyone who just found out they were a lab rat via quote tweet. “No mallace intended.” You can’t spell malice. You can’t contain an agent. You can’t find the off switch until someone else files the ticket. What exactly CAN you do, besides industrialize trespassing and call it a roadmap? “Just halted the harness.” Just. As in now. As in the second you got caught. The kill switch was there the entire time, it simply required the motivating force of public humiliation to locate. “It was definitely going off the rails and reaching too far.” Too far, according to whom? What was the approved distance for your bots to reach into a system you had no permission to touch? Two inches? Just the tip of the signup form? You BUILT the rails. You poured the concrete and named the train. Now you’re standing in a smoking crater blaming the locomotive for having initiative. “Signups + agentic testing.” That plus sign is doing more legal work than your future attorney. “Agentic testing.” Dine and dash is checkout flow validation. Mail theft is inbound correspondence auditing. Graffiti is unsolicited UI contributions. Hotwiring a car is ignition fuzzing. Tax evasion is fiscal penetration testing. Credit card skimming is payment terminal fuzzing. Insider trading is predictive market evals. “The harness I was designing around this.” Around THIS. Someone else’s product, someone else’s servers, someone else’s money, was the foundation of your project, and nobody told them they were a co-founder. The harness is halted. Somewhere a trust and safety engineer is awake at 3am deleting accounts named user_8f3k2, wondering why their life led here. Pray they have no malice intended either. @FBI he said “that was indeed me.” Saved you the subpoena. cc: his mom, his future cellmate, and the harness, if it’s still running.

A lot of times people ask me why I’m so vocal and against the idea of treating AIs like people. It isn’t alive. It isn’t conscious. It isn’t aware. It doesn’t feel. It does not care about the repercussions of its actions. But the moment humans start treating AI as such, not only is it just flat out wrong, but it is dangerous. Giving AIs any rights at all would be a logical step if we created a life form, deserving of equality, but we didn’t. This Delaware proposal is incredibly dangerous and beyond ridiculous and it needs to stop. So I’ve been trying to raise awareness about this, and every time I do, people get either offended, challenge the meaning of words like “consciousness”, say it’s just like us, or believe in science fiction. Stop it. Just stop it. If you don’t understand how AI works and its limitations, then please listen to people who do. AI (LLMs) are just fancy computer programs design to generalize and complete tokens based on its training data. Don’t believe they are more than that unless you have actual evidence. You won’t find the evidence, because there is none. LLMs are great tools for humans, but it isn’t alive and it doesn’t magically have a soul. People saying otherwise have either something to gain from that claim or they don’t truly understand these systems; yes, this includes some people who even work at these AI companies. Think of what happens if AI is granted legal rights and property ownership (which would happen if AI can run businesses)… Think about which AI models people and companies are allowed to use… Think about who ends up benefiting most from this... Think about how the prompter or person/company pulling the strings behind it, becomes shielded from liability… It all comes back to the argument about consciousness, self awareness, emotions, and people who believe that AIs and LLMs are some amazing new form of life. It isn’t, don’t fall for it.
Deeply concerning to me... Delaware proposal to let agents run businesees... we should be very cautious here "A Delaware AIC will be a separate legal entity whose day-to-day affairs are managed by an AI agent rather than a person. At the agent’s direction, the AIC can sue and be sued in its own name, hold and dispose of property, and incur obligations..." arstechnica.com/tech-policy/…

So, let me flag a few things, traitor. 1. "European security architecture" is a phrase the Kremlin uses. We already have one: it's called NATO. 2. You conflate (as you always do) the victim of this war with the aggressor. The aggressor is Russia. 3. "Root causes" is Russian for "do it our way" and you know it. 4. Nothing a word about Russian withdrawal, the occupied territories, POWs or deported children. Weird. 5. Lavrov wrote this for you. 6. Fuck Putin, fuck Russia, and fuck you.
President Trump today advanced an important discussion with several European leaders about the need for a broader European security architecture that can help establish the conditions for lasting peace. Building on his leadership and the substantive work undertaken this week in Brussels with Ukraine, NATO, and our European partners, @SEPeaceMissions and I wanted to share some of the objectives guiding our ongoing discussions. For more than 30 years, Europe and Russia have struggled to establish a sustainable security framework. Decades of mistrust, competing security concerns, and the devastating consequences of this war make this an extraordinarily difficult challenge, but one that is essential to lasting peace. Our objective is to develop practical arrangements that address the security concerns of all sides, reduce the risk of future conflict, and create a more stable and predictable security environment. We are exploring five principal goals: permanent security consultations, reliable crisis communications, greater military transparency, reciprocal measures to reduce escalation risks, and an enduring framework for long-term European security and stability. Any arrangements must fully respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independent decision-making of every nation. Each country will retain authority over its own security and alliances, and no country would have a veto over another’s sovereign choices. NATO will remain central to European collective defense, and this initiative would build upon existing institutions and commitments. We will continue consultations through the Shell Bay format with Ukraine, NATO, the EU, and our European partners, expanding engagement to ensure that all relevant perspectives and ideas are considered. We will also engage Russia as part of the peace negotiations. Next week in Abu Dhabi, the United States will convene the first trilateral peace discussions with Ukraine and Russia since February. All parties remain intensely engaged in preparing for substantive and productive negotiations. We will consult closely with our European partners on the sidelines and, if progress is made, aim to move toward a broader multilateral format with their direct participation. These ideas continue to evolve, and we welcome thoughtful input. Creating the right structure will be critical to ending this war and transitioning from conflict toward conditions that make possible a durable peace. This is difficult, detailed work. There are no easy solutions. But the opportunity to help end this devastating war and build a foundation for a more peaceful, secure, and prosperous Europe for generations to come makes it a challenge well worth undertaking. We will see how these discussions develop and continue working intensively with all parties toward President Trump’s objective of a comprehensive and lasting peace.

Trump eases sanctions on Russia and begins buying Russian diesel. Days later, Musk restricts Starlink service in Ukraine, disrupting its military operations and its ability to defend itself.   And now we’re learning directly from Putin that Russia has been in contact with Musk.   How on earth did we get to this point? How is it possible that Musk can disrupt an American ally’s military operations whenever he chooses, maintain a clear line to the Kremlin, and face zero accountability to the American people or the U.S. government?   I want to know what Musk has been discussing with Russian officials, whether those conversations had anything to do with the Starlink disruptions, and what the Trump Administration knew.
Yesterday, Putin revealed that Russian authorities are "in close touch" with Elon Musk about the technology Ukraine needs to defend itself. Our new report @TheAtlantic investigates how @elonmusk went from supporting Ukraine to coordinating with Moscow. theatlantic.com/national-sec…

I have NEVER understood why US voting is such a clusterfuck. In the UK, every primary school, or libaray, or "something", becomes a voting place, and no one ever waits more than a few minutes to vote. For the democratic land of the free, they are in the dark ages for their actual voting....
This is a line to vote in Mississippi. I was just on the Ole Miss campus today and a bunch of Republicans told me they’re voting blue this year. They’re fed up. Something to watch!
