A former Black Panther said DSA is building a movement based on political celebrities, not socialist ideology, and their momentum depends on personalities, not political education. He then points to a survey in AOC's district where only 1 in 10 people viewed socialism favorably.
Over the last few months we’ve seen pretty much every high profile DSA elected mock and delegitimize even the most lukewarm socialist politics. These people are careerist opportunists who shamelessly delegitimize/bastardize the very ideals they claim they’re popularizing.

At the #RodeLijn demonstration in Amsterdam today, a few brave protesters drew attention to why, unlike Dutch resistance, when Palestinians resist they are considered terrorists. The red line should be supporting Palestinians in whatever capacity they fight genocidal Zionism.

That people like Mamdani and El-Sayed have won are not the relevant metrics for success. Instead, what does the movement look like on the ground? How well networked is it? How defended against failure is it? On these terms I struggle to see the US left as anything but weak af.

I think this and other cases are why I don't particularly think the US mid-terms are a victory for the left to be celebrated too strongly. The Mexican left came to power not because of electoralism, but because of strongly networked and powerful ground movements.

AOC: I'm supporting Jeffries for speaker because "public housing is my priority". So ending genocide, the Iran war, AIPAC influence, billionaires tax and Medicare for All are evidently not her priority.
Just like when progressive Dems betrayed voters & fell in line backing Pelosi for Speaker without demanding ANYTHING for their vote, they’re now betraying people who voted against Israel by pledging their support to rabid Zionist & genocide enabler Jeffries for Speaker. HOORAY!

“Israel is pursuing and engineering death in Gaza. So do not be complicit.” Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defence in Gaza, addresses the world after the first winter storm tore through the Strip on November 7, 2026, saying his crews lived through every scene of families flooded out of their tents but had no equipment, no machinery and no means to help them. Within 12 hours, around 70,000 tents were flooded, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office, and dozens of walls of buildings already damaged by Israeli bombardment collapsed, injuring people, some of them seriously. Civil Defence and municipal crews say they could not pump out the water or open drainage channels because of fuel shortages and broken equipment. About ten rainwater suction trucks have been held at the crossings for a year as the occupation blocks their entry, and by August municipalities said they had received no fuel for their heavy machinery since March. Diesel has become so scarce and expensive that generator owners have resorted to burning cooking oil. This is the fourth winter Gaza’s displaced have spent in tents, and a year into the ceasefire the Israeli occupation still restricts the entry of tents, tarps, caravans and building materials. “Don’t make us say that our blood didn’t move you to act,” Basal says. “So how are these scenes supposed to move you?” Source: mahmoud_basal88 (IG)

For last 24 hours I’ve seen footage of horrific scenes from Gaza, just absolute human misery. Yet..it’s not there on any news outlet’s home pages, not discussed on our witless political shows. We’re just going to ignore it? Is that the plan?

To whom it may concern: It is with great sadness that I inform you that the first child has died from the extreme cold inside a tent in Gaza. The tent offered no protection against the freezing temperatures, and the lack of heating was enough to end his life.

Translation: Those who acknowledge the connection between Germany's historic responsibility and it's ongoing fascist tendencies must leave the county once and for all.
German Chancellor Merz said Muslim immigrants who refuse to acknowledge Germany's historical responsibility for the Holocaust must leave the country. Speaking at a reception for Jewish athletes in Berlin, Merz said: This historical responsibility of our country applies just as much to those who come here to Germany from Islamic countries. And anyone who fails to abide by this must leave our country.

Erosion of the nuclear taboo in Iran: For decades, Iran's nuclear policy was constrained by a religious edict issued by the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, prohibiting the development and use of nuclear weapons. Today, however, voices from Friday prayer pulpits to street demonstrations are calling on the leadership to abandon its longstanding commitment not to develop nuclear weapons. Millions of Iranians, alongside lawmakers and political figures, are increasingly demanding a decisive and timely shift in the country's defense and nuclear doctrine. At the highest political level, the shift is becoming explicit. Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, said in a state television interview that the leadership was debating whether to maintain its pre-war nuclear doctrine. "No new decision has been made yet," he said. "But, of course, the debate now is whether we want to keep the same doctrine we had before the war." Calls for Iran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), once confined to the political margins, are also becoming increasingly prominent in national media. In parliament, prominent figures have joined the debate, arguing that if Iran possessed nuclear weapons, its adversaries would not dare attack the country or target its leaders and ordinary citizens, including schoolchildren. Ebrahim Rezaei, a member of the parliament’s national security and foreign policy commission, in his recent remarks said that even before the war was imposed on Iran, 70 percent of Iranians supported acquiring nuclear weapons as a means of securing deterrence. The underlying perception is increasingly clear: without the ultimate deterrent, Iran could remain vulnerable to attacks by the United States and Israel at any moment. Trump himself reinforced this perception when he said at a Republican convention in September that if Iran possessed a nuclear weapon, he would be "calling the leader politely."

There’s an exhilarating story below about Lenin on a tram. No other Marxist like him. He lived and breathed the idea of socialist democracy. He dreamt of a society where common people held power. Also sharing my article on Lenin as a Marxist thinker: tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1…
Lenin iç cebinde taşıdığı küçük not defterini çıkardı. Büyük harflerle yazmıştı. 6 KASIM ERKEN 8 KASIM GEÇ İHTİLAL GÜNÜ 7 KASIM. Lenin aynı zamanda sözcüklerin mühendisiydi. "Bütün iktidar Sovyetlere" Sloganı güne, koşullara göre anlam değiştiriyordu. Dün örgütlenme ve propaganda sloganıydı. Yarın, yani 7 Kasım ayaklanmanın. Ayaklanma günü gizlendiği fırından çıkarken taze somun kokusu yayılıyordu her yana. Bu güzel ekmekleri tüm halka eşit paylaştıracağız, kimse yatağa aç bilaç girmeyecek. Özellikle çocuklar, diye mırıldandı. Duygusallaştı. Kenar mahalleden çıktı. Petrograd merkezine giden bir tramvayı yakaladı. Biletçi kadın geldi, biletini gösterdi ve sohbet etmeye başladı. Gündem üzerine sorular sordu. Sordu. Tren durdu. Lenin hızla indi... Eylem adımlarıyla yürürken, geriye baktı, kasketini başından çıkardı, salladı...

I put a map of the "Yellow Line" on a topographic map of Gaza. It shows that Israel is pushing Palestinians into the lowest-lying parts of Gaza, ensuring that as many people as possible are flooded by cold water and sewage. Let's be clear: This policy is intended to kill.
🚨HORRIBLE: Sewage has mixed with rainwater as floodwaters engulf displaced Palestinians’ tents in Gaza. For the fourth consecutive winter, families are once again facing flooding, contamination, and unimaginable suffering as a result of Israel’s genocidal war.

Absolutely pathetic people. It was clear what was going to happen. Plenty of people told them so. They should take responsibility for enthusiastically allowing themselves to be conned.
