In observation of the International Day of Political Prisoners, we are gathering today evening (5PM ET) at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. to honor political prisoners all over the world. At this event, I will have the opportunity to read out loud the names of our detained comrades in Uganda, including those who have been recently released.
Special thanks to the October 30 Coalition and the National Endowment for Democracy who have facilitated this to ensure that the world never forgets about those unjustly persecuted for their political opinion.

Ali Ssenyomo indeed existed and he lived in South Africa for years. He became one of Ivan’s proxies and several of the latter’s illicitly gotten properties were registered in his names. Before going South he was a ‘dealer’ operating along William Street. He died mysteriously in 2015 and properties were transferred into other people’s names. These included a hostel in Makerere and land titles. To be continued….

I was one of the @DailyMonitor writers assigned to follow up on the story of his death and return of his body.
I sought help from a South African journalist to trace the whereabouts of his body.
Unfortunately, we failed. We did not know that he was using a different name in SA.
In June 2017, @DailyMonitor published a sweeping article that the body of Ivan Ssemwanga had been brought to Uganda under completely different names, of Ali Ssenyomo.
Who is Ali Ssenyomo? Why would the body of one person be moved across countries under a different name? 🤔
