It’s impossible to overstate the importance of data in informing business decisions. Now with AI, our ability to mine and utilize insights from data has been turbocharged. Hopefully building companies of the future will be that much easier!
ANTHONY NATIF GUARDIAN PHARMACIES RON KAWAMARA BIG DATA When I was younger, rumors were big data was going to control the world and being young then I didn’t understand what that meant and didn’t bother me much. Working with Makerere university , UN GLOBAL PULSE and a telcom to capture data for @RwenzoriMarathn has brought the point home even more clearer. GUARDIAN PHARMACIES While chatting with a friend many years ago, @TonyNatif name came up and this friend told me, before Natif set up the pharmacies, he went to one of the biggest telecoms and paid for the BIG DATA. He wanted to know which part of Kampala had the highest mobile money transfers and plus wanted to also know what they spent money on. @TonyNatif used that BIG DATA to setup the pharmacies and yes, the BIG DATA was accurate. Then someday I decided, I would engage him on this topic and he opened my eyes on this subject. Please don’t allow @TonyNatif to simple confuse you with general discussions, ask him to discuss serious stuff like the above, chap is clever. Go beyond his noise and dig deep about what matters. RON KAWAMARA In the picture we were at where @Ronkawamara had opened a new restaurant in Ntinda, really classic with super food, am waiting for pictures so I can post. @Ronkawamara where are the pictures?

HOW TO SURVIVE IN HOIMA CITY FOR NEWCOMERS (2026) 1. Blend in with a Kitara FC jersey @KitarafcHoima (available at their office on Main Street). Supporting Kitara is both local patriotism and free conversation currency. Wear it and suddenly every boda guy becomes your best friend. The new Hoima City Stadium is the real deal now - try not to cry when you see the pitch. 2. Avoid Kiryatete after dark. It’s still the street that separates the cautious from the people who later post “Hoima is unsafe” on Twitter. 3. Arrows Bar/Restaurant remains a solid first landing. Decent company, boiled goat meat, mulokonyi, and vibes that won’t leave you questioning your life choices by midnight. The roasted goat here is basically the unofficial welcome committee. Don’t fight it. In came, Kats, Melano, Danjo and Kefa Rymz (especially that meal hated by the entire religion) 4. Hit restaurants like food courts for plates that won’t bankrupt you, Amigos if you’re from the north and miss home so much you’re about to cry into your Marakwang, and New Sunshine/Halal/Masha Allah restaurants for reliable matooke and grilled tilapia. Street Rolex is still the cheapest breakfast that rarely betrays you - just don’t ask too many questions about the eggs. 5. Rent in Lusaka Upper (not Lower), Bujwahya, Kinubi, Bujumbura East or parts of Kijungu/Muyenga. Demand has risen with oil workers and AFCON preparations, so lock something early or prepare to negotiate against three engineers, a Kitara supporter, and someone’s uncle who “knows the landlord personally.” 6. Slay-queen radar stays the same. If she’s sitting alone looking like she has a business proposal, she probably does. Better still, ask around for “Jomayi.” 7. Boda fares within a few kilometres of town should stay under 2k if you look like you belong. Agree the price before you sit. After dark, don’t walk unlit roads - bodas may be chaotic, but they’re cheaper than hospital bills and better conversation than your own thoughts. 8. Swimming is cheaper at some older hotels, but Miika Eco Resort still has one of the better pools. Perfect for recovering from “just one more Nile Special.” The water doesn’t judge your life choices. Much. 9. Drink Albertine or Rwenzori water. National water here has mood swings and besides tap water is still a gamble best left to the brave, the foolish, or people who enjoy surprise visits to the clinic. 10. Plots of land remain relatively accessible compared to Kampala - prime areas like Kanenankumba (Muyenga) and Bujumbura still move, though prices have firmed with the oil and airport news. There are legit guys like Blue Print ltd, Oilland real estate ltd etc 11. Fresh food at Hoima Central Market from early morning. By afternoon the best fish and vegetables are gone. Unlike your hometown markets, Fresh foods here keeps flowing in from our village food baskets. The market is loud, crowded, and full of people who will negotiate like their life depends on it - because it kind of does. 12. Main Street is the banking and commercial spine (Stanbic, Absa, Dfcu etc.). Wright Road for electronics and cosmetics, Old Toro Road for boutiques and the town mosque. If you’re looking for banks, you’re looking for Main Street. If you’re looking for drama, the market will provide. 13. Nightlife is active and generally friendly. Arrows, Kat’s, Café Milano, Danjo and a few newer spots. Liquor does seem to taste different here - science has not explained it, but local wisdom says it’s the altitude, the vibes, or just the fact that you’re finally relaxing. Go in a group after 10 pm not earlier. Wednesday at Milano, Thursday at Arrows, Friday at Kefa and Danjo, Saturday all places are filled up but it all ends at Milano, Sunday is Kats lounge. 14. Accommodation can still be as low as 15-25k for a basic room if you’re not picky. Oil-worker demand has pushed mid-range options up. Basic rooms come with basic expectations - bring your own expectations (and maybe earplugs). Else, Hotels in the city centre like @hbhotels_ , Hoima Resort, etc and out of town calmness for @MiikaEcoResort and @kabalegaresorts etc 15. Notable pharmacies: Allanz, Guardian Health, 3Doc, Nilkanth, Gloria Pharmacy, Raimset (opp HB hotel) and others. Stock up; don’t wait until you’re already down and bargaining with a headache. Gloria has been famous longer than some of us have been alive. 1/2

A father’s love for his daughter never ends, even when her time here does. There are no words to describe the heartbreak of losing a child or the emptiness that lasts a lifetime. The years may pass, but the love, the memories, and the longing to have her here with us never fade. If you are able, please consider making a donation to support us as we walk to honor Autumn this Saturday. These donations, no matter how small, help fund life-saving research, suicide prevention education, and support for families who know the unimaginable heartbreak of losing someone they love. Autumn will always be my daughter, our heroic archer. She will always be loved and always be a part of everything I do. afspwalks.donordrive.com/tea…

This paragraph by Richard Feynman hits so hard: “Fall in love with some activity, and do it! Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn’t matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough. Work as hard and as much as you want to on the things you like to do the best. Don’t think about what you want to be, but what you want to do. Keep up some kind of a minimum with other things so that society doesn’t stop you from doing anything at all.”

Hello Bright, We are pleased to have served you and humbled so much by kind words used. Have a good day ahead.
18 minutes. This is the amount of time it took me to walk into @UDLSOfficial and walk out with my renewed driving license. All I had to come with was my original expired license and a PRN on my phone. I paid used Mobile Money. This is what peak efficiency looks like, and I really commend these fellas. I give them 5/5 Stars! When you digitize processes, payments and integrate systems, it makes data reusable and service delivery seamless. Even more, the team right from security are very professional and customer centered. Every @GovUganda MDA needs to go and benchmark with these good people!

RWENZORI MARATHON 2026 MONEY IDEAS FOR YOU MAKERERE UNIVERSITY - UN GLOBAL PULSE ONE TELCOM If you have followed me for long, you will realize I love figure, if you can’t measure what you do in real figures, then you might be lying to yourself. This year, RWENZORI MARATHON worked with UN GLOBAL PULSE, MAKERERE UNIVERSITY AND one of the telcoms in Uganda. The full research findings are coming out this week according to UN GLOBAL PULSE team but some ideas below according to preliminary findings. We had over 8200 registered runners from 49 countries like I have told you and our target was 8k only for RWENZORI MARATHON 2026. Working with one telcom, the total figures of people who turned up were 37,000 and around 9.30am, there were 18k people at the finish line. 70% of the people who went to KASESE for RWENZORI MARATHON used the northern route and that’s through Mityana , Mubende, Fortportal route. 30% of the people who went to kasese for RWENZORI MARATHON 2026 used the south route and that’s through masaka, Mbarara, bushenyi. According to research ushs 500m was spent only on the routes and it’s amazing how these figures were captured, I have always told you when people move money moves. In kasese between 6am and 6pm on the day of the marathon, ushs 9bn changed hands and this is based on one telcoms( we don’t have figures from the other telcom) and this doesn’t include spend in Fortportal, bushenyi, Rubirizi , ishaka and yes some people stayed in Mbarara. When the final findings come out, my expectations of how much money was earned in total could be around ushs 37bn but let me not bias the researchers before they disclose full figures. That should include spend by runners from different borders like Malaba , Busia and Entebbe airport, spend in Kampala etc Close to 1600 went to kasese during the Rwenzori marathon and just imagine each car used ushs 700k averagely, TOTAL OR SHELL UGANDA should pick interest in Rwenzori marathon. Now that we have support from ministry of sports and education for marketing internationally specifically and aggressive marketing is on going, imagine what next year will look like God willing? @OgwangOgwang There has been a problem before every RWENZORI MARATHON time from Covid, rebel stories, Ebola twice, imagine we had one peaceful year, think of what this marathon would do to this economy?

It has finally been signed! 🇺🇬⚽ UTB and CAF. Congratulations, Uganda! A mega football event like the one we are looking forward to in 2027 is no longer just about football. It is about tourism, development, investment, innovation, legacy — and, most excitingly for me, data. For the first time, this continental football spectacle will be hosted by three countries — Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. What an opportunity to showcase Uganda and East Africa to the world! Visibility can become tourism. Tourism can become investment. Investment can create jobs and opportunities. And data can help us understand the impact and the legacy we leave behind. The opportunity is much bigger than football. Congratulations @TourismBoard and @ExploreUganda! 🇺🇬 #Tourism #Data #Innovation #Uganda #ExploreUganda
We are proud to announce our partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), confirming Uganda Tourism Board as an Official Competition Sponsor of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, KE-TZ-UG 27.
