The seven days of Sukkot start tomorrow. Sukkot is one of the three Jewish festivals on which the ancient Israelites were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. This beautiful folio-sized machzor (prayerbook) for Sukkot according to the Provençal rite of Avignon, was written by the scribe David Tsoref in 1721. 1/

"You and I are Earth," 1661. The plate, discovered in a London sewer, is made of tin-glazed earthenware. It is now part of the Museum of London's collection. The plate dates back to the mid-17th century, a time when London was recovering from events like the Great Plague of 1665 and the Great Fire of 1666, which devastated large parts of the city.

Rabbi Yoni Rosensweig's words about Tisha Be'Av and Mental Health pierced me. This is what Rabbinic Leadership looks like: empathy and courage and clarity of conviction, close and careful read of our sacred texts for the sake of strength and holiness.

.@aharonium of @opensiddur made a terrific presentation at Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives (AJA) -- Aharon sleuthed out the earliest rabbi prayers in Congress, which aren't in the Congressional Record. See his research & findings: youtube.com/watch?v=7hY0MhAA…

I went on a bit of a treasure hunt searching for prayers of rabbinic guest chaplains missing from the Congressional Record before 1904. Here's my presentation of initial findings at the American Jewish Archives this past Wednesday: youtube.com/watch?v=7hY0MhAA…

I'm so sorry to hear about this loss. Ilana was an absolute force for Hebrew manuscripts and worked tirelessly to make the @BL_HebrewMSS collection available on so many levels. יהי זכרה ברוך

On this Flag Day, I pray again — as I did in the Senate 21 years ago — that our pledge of allegiance to that flag becomes a prayer — and we live up to to the promise and vision of the Constitution for which it stands.

We need your help now! Please share Jon and Rachel's message far and wide. #Bring_Hersh_Home #BringThemAllHome We are asking every single person seeing this to please send an email now to the @IsraeliPM. It is so important! You can use this script: Dear Prime Minister Netanyahu, Please give a broad mandate to Mossad Director Barnea and the entire Israeli negotiating team to negotiate for the immediate release of all the hostages. It has been too long, and we can't begin to truly recover from the trauma of October 7th until the hostages are home. We are proud to be part of a nation that goes to the greatest lengths to bring home their people. Thank you, Please send to [email protected]
