Not all families look the same, and sometimes it gets messy. But when we can look at our child's other parent and understand that helping them be a successful parent will positively impact your child, it can help us muster up the desire to create a more supportive relationship.
When we can communicate to our child WHAT we're doing on our phone, it can help them understand that we're not just always on our phone playing games and watching TikTok.
Bonus: It helps us from getting caught in mindless scrolling + provide a bit of accountability.
Sometimes, you just don't have the energy. With a little creativity, you can still play with your kid while taking a much-needed rest to recharge. Some ideas: Scavenger hunt, Build a fort!
These games ask your child to tap into their imagination — and no screens are needed.
If your kid has a hard time getting started on homework, or they put off calling a friend, it isn't always just laziness; it could be that they are overwhelmed by the task. Instead of scolding them for being “lazy,” ask questions. Dig deeper to find out what’s holding them back.
As parents, show that you understand, empathize, and allow them to express themselves. Once the storm has subsided, you can use logic to resolve the conflict.
