im glad valve is finally getting shit for making devs write ai disclaimers. completely inappropriate and political practice, it was never pro-consumer to punish certain tool use.

There are intelligent defenses of AI but this is just not one of them. This is nothing like the invention of the printing press or the automobile or the airplane or anything else. AI is not merely a faster and more efficient tool for humans to use (as was the case with the printing press and cars etc). The whole point of AI is that it takes human out of the equation entirely. Horse and buggy drivers had to get used to driving cars instead. AI at scale means nobody drives at all. That category of job is not simply changed. It’s eliminated. Now repeat that process across the entire economy. Now add in RSI and humans don’t even make or train AI anymore. AI just does everything. Thats the concern and it’s obviously, at the very least, legitimate and rational. The pro-AI side relentlessly strawmanning and pretending not to understand the very basic point being made is, to say the least, frustrating.
Being anti-AI today is like being anti-printing press in the 1450s. The scribes had strong opinions too.

Games are the highest grossing entertainment industry. Investors were heavy into games the last decade and are a huge reason why games became hyper monetized and live service focused. Somewhere after the pandemic that money shifted to AI. 1/6
'“No more hand-written code,” one of the game’s directors told staff in an internal message reviewed by Bloomberg. The director added that all art for the game would be “generated with full AI workflows.”'

Sprite sheets for your game, from a sentence. Describe your character and Privateer draws it. Describe the motion. One clip becomes a walk cycle, keyed and packed. Sheet and every frame, one download. Off until you allow media without zero retention. Web + desktop.

"A door slam. Rain on a window. A distant siren." That's the whole prompt. Sound effects generated from a few words, ready to drop under a cut. privateer.pro

Describe a song, and get back a finished track. Honest note, made in the app on camera: music generation isn't something we can route to a zero retention provider, so the prompt is sent unattributed no account id, no history. That's the whole disclosure. privateer.pro

❗️ Meta's AI agent Muse is mapping relationships, disputes and "tensions and alliances" of 4 million users and the people they mention, including people who don't use it, and it is instructed not to tell users that messages they asked it to "forget" may still be visible, a review of its internal instructions found.

Your OpenAI SDK. One line changed. It runs on Privateer. OpenAI-compatible API. Point your existing client at api.privateer.pro/v1, drop in a key, and hundreds of models are on the other side. We persist only billing metadata, never your prompts or the responses. privateer.pro/api

I think we're approaching a step change in AI coding right now. Until now, AI's main edge was speed. Expert humans could still build better software. But we're starting to see systems no team could realistically build by hand, and only AI could debug and extend. That's when things get crazy.
