Hello, SSW’s are actually not more or less common than in El Niño’s vs La Niña’s. In fact, the Polar Vortex’s base state during El Niño is usually a bit weaker. There has been some research suggesting SSW’s are more likely to occur mid-winter during El Niño, but it’s not 1:1.
Replying to @webberweather
It's warm now and aren't SSW uncommon during El Nino years? I mean basically we know we could very well torch this whole winter which is what you've been harping on so nothing really changes to your point then.

What I’m looking at for the winter forecast: Record breaking El Niño Unprecedented Stratospheric Warming Event A volcanic eruption from 2022 that still has impacts A -PDO in an El Niño (that could flip) A strongly +QBO, that may decline soon etc Should be easy right 😂

Winter Forecast to be out on November 1st. It's less of a snow forecast and more of a pattern discussion, what we will be looking for, and how things can play out. There will be a snow estimate, although I haven't decided exactly how I want to present that. Winter is coming ❄️

A cool, but sunny weekend is in the books as we approach the end of October. If you are curious about Halloween, I’m not seeing significant cold, but a cold could clip us the day of or before. We will watch. 🎃

"The weather space is too saturated" Yes and no. How do you stand out and not be a dime a dozen weather personality? 1. Think small: Local knowledge > broad brush national focus 2. Don't be generic: Have a personality 3. Call your shots: Don't follow the herd 4. Avoid AI slop

Yup, software is slowly but surely becoming less valuable. If we just stick to the weather enterprise for simplicity, I don't think anyone will be paying for software within 5 years. Faster data? Better data? Yeah that still has plenty of value.
Replying to @MatthewCappucci
For sure. I'm just looking at it from a supply and demand angle. If anyone can easily create the same stuff, you've got nearly unlimited supply which in turn kinda makes it all less valuable. The real value is just the source of the underlying data used

We are slowly working on adding more models, but that’s a given for any model website. In terms of potential features, the sky is the limit….. and our patience 🤪 In all seriousness, let us know if you have any specific features you want. Our goal is to be completely free…

🌀Hurricane Isaias Damage Analysis (1/4) NWS Mobile continues to investigate an extreme corridor of damaging winds WEST of Isaias' center. This radar/velocity loop shows intense winds, with deeper blues/greens indicating higher wind speeds, possibly associated with a "sting jet"
