Umera Ahmed in today’s ep of Dar-e-nijat v clearly pushing a narrative that women’s clothing is the problem, that wearing anything other than desi attire somehow makes a woman less connected to God; that women taking pictures, is somehow morally wrong. Shitty AF!

Mitti De Baway is absolute CLASS. Faiza Iftikhar has absolutely nailed it. The dialogues, character arcs, backstories, everything is so on point. I genuinely haven’t come across something this good in more than a decade. Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahin was probably the last drama of this calibre, and MdB arguably has a much bigger canvas. Amar Khan was simply brilliant in this scene. The ring in her voice, the emotion, the sheer control... an absolute masterclass in acting. Honestly, I’m running out of superlatives to describe the quality of the performances. This is Pakistani television storytelling at its very best.

1000s of working people in Saidpur & Bari Imam - many of them the original inhabitants of Isb - were brutally evicted without even pennies for bus fare. But owners of illegal One Constitution Avenue flats will get 3x what they paid, from taxpayer money. Blatant class warfare.
Evictions in Muslim Colony and Said Pur. Refunds plus KIBOR in the Red Zone. The cabinet wants One Constitution Avenue turned into a five-star hotel and CDA to repay its flat owners, a bill we estimate at PKR 16–21bn. Why the difference?

A leaked diplomatic cable from 2009 states that Maulana Fazlur Rehman opposed military ops against TTP b/c it would decrease his influence as a mediator between TTP & the govt. Today, he has the audacity to claim TTP is a Pak Army conspiracy. He mocks security forces who die in TTP’s attacks—all while he himself has always cared more about his political influence than stopping TTP’s bloodshed. Quote from the cable: “Fazlur Rehman…has positioned himself & his party as a primary mediator between the government & militants…His decreasingly oblique criticisms of Pakistani military operations…& his more direct criticisms of a…Waziristan operation have kept pace with the increasing drumbeat of official talk about Waziristan. Fazlur Rehman's upset at the prospect of such an operation may in part be a reaction the political support that his party continues to carry there…but it also reflects the fact that…such an operation will represent the eclipse of his affiliates' mediating role in favor of force wielded by parties outside of his control.” wikileaks.org/plusd/cables/0…

Captain Safdar’s demand that every lawyer, from a naib qasid to the Law Minister, swear never to represent an Ahmadi, warning that doing so is a “ticket to hell”, and that Ahmadis should never be allowed into the army, judiciary or any position of authority, is an appalling extension of religious discrimination and apartheid. Why this relentless hostility towards an already persecuted community? @MaryamNSharif, spouses may hold different ideologies, but inciting religious hatred is not a private difference of opinion. You have shown resolve in confronting extremism in Punjab. Then why does such rhetoric from your own household escape legal scrutiny? The law cannot be firm against some and silent before others. His statements are not only undermining your governance but testing its credibility. Leadership is measured by whether the principles you uphold in public apply equally at home.

From Parliament to television studios and social media, Pakistan’s public discourse has descended into an epidemic of verbal diarrhoea. Pakistan does not suffer from a shortage of people speaking. It suffers from a shortage of people saying anything worth listening to.

Genuinely flabbergasted at the comments. Do people actually not realize how Cuba’s survival is essential for freedom of people from imperialism and US hegemony for ALL OF US?

The obsession of PMLN with Islamabad's infrastructure has destroyed our beloved city. Vendors and small businesses are being destroyed, unnecessary road expansions everywhere, and now they are after parks. Is there literally no one to advise them how to make a city work? How about building on the existing strengths of this city and use that for its development and to generate more economic activity? Give more licenses to street vendors, create well-managed and lively night and weekend farmers/crafters/women's markets, create more opportunities for people to enjoy sports, outdoor activities, spaces for young people to showcase their art, facilitating the young people working in IT sector by providing co-working spaces with high-speed internet? #SaveIslamabad #IslamabadBachao

What colour is your passport? The Senate’s rush to grant lifetime Blue (official) Passports to Senators and their families is a brazen act of elite capture. Blue Passports give visa-free access to dozens of countries — a convenience ordinary Pakistanis holding Green Passports don’t receive. Roughly 70,000 Blue Passports are already in circulation, yet only about 40 have been issued to the country’s top private-sector taxpayers. Parliament passed this self-serving privilege in days, while laws that actually matter, on justice, public safety, education, health and environment, sit untouched. More than 2.2 million cases rot in courts, some for decades. Majority of our lawmakers come from elite families. Their hunger for still more lifelong benefits shows where their real priorities lie. I once held a Blue Passport as gov servant. After leaving a privileged, secured and pensionable gov job, I started from ground zero with a Green Passport to now among the top 8,000 taxpayers in a nation of 250 million. I have never been denied a visa on Green Passport. The difference isn’t colour of your passport. Contribution, not connections, is what matters and nation looks towards its leaders for the same. Pakistan is split into two classes: those who enjoys perks and privileges on taxpayers’ money and those who earn livelihood, create wealth, jobs and pay taxes. This must be reversed. Taxpayers and ordinary citizens deserve dignity and protection. Lawmen cannot continue to shield the powerful while punishing everyone else. That system has to end.

It’s deeply disrespectful to us Brazilians, who spent 20 days mobilizing across the country, standing up to Big Tech and imperialist forces, to credit our victory as a nation to an American billionaire who said absolutely nothing about our elections. Delete this shit, @Variety.

It’s unbelievable to see how reckless the rulers of this country are, Sunday market which is one of the very few affordable markets and also is the main livelihood for hundreds of small vendors and businesses has been closed down Islamabad to install fire extinguishers apparently. It’s such poor planning that working people of the city are having to pay for the negligence of the city admin. It says volumes about the incompetency of CDA, an unelected body, that runs this city. Why must the people who already lost in the fires pay for this? What exactly is being installed that it requires the entire market to shut down for weeks on end? Is government providing any compensation to the vendors who are missing out on their earnings? Such a shame that literally the state can get away scot-free for anything. #IslamabadBachao
