Every map of India
The strongest argument I’ve ever heard in defence of patriarchy is the hot chapati. Someone has to keep making them while everyone else eats, and that someone is rarely the man demanding another. But what happens when you draw a line between rice-eating and roti-eating India? The Census, economists and several decades of research start telling a rather curious story. Introducing Rotinomics: where a humble flatbread finds itself accused of being an accessory to patriarchy. @PrasadScribe timesofindia.indiatimes.com/…

Since every trend in India looks like this, I guess that makes the roti theory weaker as an explanation

"It sounds like a qawwali" yeah well classical music, like palaces, temples, garments, everything in the movie and in Indian culture, is a fusion that evolved over time. You are deluded if you think there's a line between "alien" and "authentic". And we used to be okay with that.

I feel bad for ARR and Sai Pallavi but seriously what were they expecting taking up Hindutva slop
Qawwali in Ramayana. AR Rahman never fails to disappoint.

Even those on the left are quick to scold "hooligans" but the hooligans in uniform are never chastised for maiming, lynching and beating unarmed protestors
Whoever the hooligans in France are, the effects of their actions will be: less sympathy for the demands of the protesters and more votes for the extreme right.

European liberals endorsed the U.S. bombing UNESCO world heritage sites in Iran, and now they are like "the political violence of targeting the Hermés boutique must end! 😭" You are a bunch of racist assholes and hypocrites

Do not go into right wing discourse about the French protests, it's a cesspool of the vilest racism. In the end the only way to get rid of that is to win
It's just shocking how common the use of the terms "barbarians", "invaders", "Islamists" etc has become when talking about whole groups of people. Well, not shocking but sad how little we learn from history, even when it is a core part of our education. Ideology trumps all.

The bourgeoisie of the whole world, which looks complacently upon the wholesale massacre after the battle, is convulsed by horror at the desecration of brick and mortar! - Karl Marx, The Civil War in France
Jag vill inte längre höra folk säga att det rör sig om ”vanliga” skolprotester. Bilderna och filmerna från Frankrike visar på ren och skär ondska.

The history of space travel in the USSR puts the lie to the idea that communism, even in a formerly peasant nation, cannot come up with amazing technological leaps
The flying car looks like shit, releases enormous amounts of pollution. But the funniest thing is people claiming communism, which sent the first satellite into space, couldn't have done this.

Like, the USSR went toe to toe with the US in the space race. Communism places enormous emphasis on being scientifically advanced. What the fuck are you talking about

I don't know how this can be anything but a symptom of a decaying economy
In FY2026, 31 lakh Indians chose to earn through Zomato and Blinkit as delivery partners. That’s 57% more than the previous year. Behind every one of these numbers is a person with interests and ambitions. A student balancing classes, an entrepreneur building something of their own, a dancer pursuing their passion, and a parent juggling work and family. We co-created this song with @ItsAmitTrivedi to celebrate our delivery partners, their many pursuits, and the journeys they’re on. We’re proud to be a part of each and every one of them.
